Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Jarhead action. Two peeps I hoped would get a longer look were Abreu and Nickeas. There's a good chance they might need either or both this season.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 It's Newhan's head that I find particularly startling.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 The startling part is that it's still under the "25-man roster" section.(Well, that and the Fat Trachsel thing.)

In which case, if they don't trade or buy out Green, he'll either cost Newhan a spot on the bench, or we'll be going with 6 in the pen, instead of 7.- Smith and Soler may have forced their way into the bullpen picture, at the expense of Sosa, Adkins and/or Burgos, with Sanchez likely starting on the DL. Padilla will start pitching in games this weekend.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 So, Adkins is doing everything he can to pitch his way out of the picture. If he can't get right, I've got Pelfrey (5 scoreless innings, bumping Park to the pen?), Smith (5 scoreless) or Vargas (4 scoreless).

That will leave open the option of carrying Milledge on the bench during that period. He may well play his way into Green's job. Otherwise, if they don't carry a RHed hitting Ofer on the bench, who subs for Green on D, or when he continues to suck? Easley? Who gets the 6th SPer/long man slot in the pen: Park, Sele, Sosa or Vargas? - Sanchez will be starting on the DL, and Padilla will, too. Smith has forced his way into the bullpen, and Burgos (with options) may have pitched his way out of it.Do we cut or trade Adkins, or keep him as the 12th man? Without Mota, Sanchez or Padilla, and with Burgos ineffective, we are short of RHed relievers. Does Urdaneta get a serious look?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 because, personally, I find your chart unviewable, with its many colors and photos, and its too spread out. While you project a possible 25-man roster, you don't break them down into L/R, or suggest a lineup or roles for the relievers. So I sporadically present my list as a simpler take, but with more info, in order to posit new questions on the development of the roster as it proceeds thru ST. My list obviously overlaps with your work (and an estimable job you do!), but i just find it more useful for me, and maybe some others might, too (or not).
