Brewers are leading the Phils 7-5 in the 9th.

Ryan Howard up- 2 on-2 out.

This sucks.

LoDuca shouldn't have been bunting. He's got good bat control--try to get him to send one the other way.

this occured to me when it happened, but all we needed was a fly to the outfield to plate that run.
And it ended up we had afew chances for that with Beltran and Delgado reaching (2 chances there) and Wright getting up.

Nah, even with the sac we should have scored that run.

Brewers get out of it w/o further damage and its 7-7 in the bottom of the 9th.

Would there have been any point in squeezing with Wright? Would that have made any sense there? Probably not, but it's a thought I had.

I thought that too. Dangerous--not Willie's style at all.

Well the Brewers managed to leg out their game that got away in the ninth winning 8-7.

I wince as I think it's Lima time for the rubber match, tomorrow.

Brewers win with a drive over the centerfielder Victorinos head.
There were 2 outs and first and second at the time Jenkins hit the drive.

I wonder if Rowand would have made that catch.........

With the fastest player in beisbol on 3rd and a shut-em-down bullpen ...

Maybe David isn't a good bunter. I dunno. I guess they were hoping for, "at worst", the sac fly.

I wanted 2 of 3 before Jose Lima's start.

Trachsel deserved better tonight

Mets haven't scored a run in either of Trax's last two starts.

As much as last night's ending was disappointing, if Willie bunts with Wright and fails, we'd be having him for breakfast and lunch this morning. Probably if he bunted and failed with Beltran also.

Quite true. But one advantage of Bobby's odd play was that it was unpredictible, so that even if bunting with his best hitter didn't work on a particular night, it kept future defenses from cheating back in the same situation, which in turn made the defense more porous.

Opposing managers now, even if they're not La Geniuses, can pretty well tell what WWSB's next twelve moves are going to be and plan accordingly...

OTOH, Willie's got a hell of a surprise set up in case he ever does pull a suicide squeeze or some wild shit. He'll have the 3bman backed up to the warning track.
