Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 So much for Piazza going for #400 vs. the Mets.Reyes benched after slumping.Still no Beltran.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Good to see Cameron back. In an interview with Eddie C. on the pregame show, he sounded a little apprehensive to be back though... "everytime I see a couple guys coming near each other, I cringe a little..."

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Zambi allows an 0-2 homer.Not good.1-0 Pads
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 nice play in the hole by woodward, matsui stayed in there against a slide and got hte throw off but not in time for 2.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Matsui currently at .300 for the year. Mark this moment down. He's due up next in about twenty minutes.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Keith apologizes.Awkward silence follows.
Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Hernandez apologizes for "inappropriate" comments about the broad on the bench last night, and then promptly cites chapter and verse of the rules specifically prohibiting anyone other than specific personnel (players, managers, trainer and assistant trainer), regardless of gender, being on the bench."I sincerely apologize but, technically, fuck you."

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Trying CBSsportsline.com Game Center upon Frayed Knots mention in the thread for yesterday's game. Rather generic looking compared to ESPN and MLB, but I do like seeing the complete boxscore (both teams hitting and pitching stats) at the same time as they unfold. It has all the basic information one could want and seems to move along pretty quickly.

As an assistant trainer for the Pads? I mean she was wearing the same garb that Met training staff usually wear

Wright said he didn't think so.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 and if Keith Hernandez had quoted he rulebook last night without bringing up her gender he'd be 100% right. But in the context of an apology it's the wrong time to read the rule. You could have apologized and then had your partner casually mention the rule (since I'm sure the "apology" was ordered from above anyway.)

I mean she was wearing the same garb that Met training staff usually wearno, because the head trainer and assidtant trainer are allowed (thats 2 trainers), she was a 3rd "trainer", which isn't allowed.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 a somewhat smoother 2nd inning for Victor

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I love Keith's honesty...it is refreshingly different for an announcer to actually speak his mind (even if it's not PC).Anyone offended by what an ex-player says about anything not having to do with baseball is just as boneheaded as the ex-player who says the comment.I really doubt the opinons of Keith are really going to effect the overall battle of the sexes in American society. If they do, than we have bigger problems.

But dollars to doughnuts I bet the update guy only did that to tweak the Mets, and if Bobby Murcer did it, the comment would not have been replayed.

Guest mlbaseballtalk Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 He did say "What is that girl doing in the dugout?" though, making it seem that he was going after her as a woman though at first. The reporter on the update I heard this morning after playing Hernandez's "thats distracting" quote said "Sure, its distracting Keith" so its been interpreted as Keith being sexist
Guest abogdan Guests Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 ]He didnt really say just cuz she's a woman, right? It was heavily implied. He said something along the lines of, "I'm not saying women belong only in the kitchen, but . . ." I don't remember exactly what all of his comments were, but the general impression I received was the he was expressing his complete shock that a woman was sitting in a MLB dugout wearing a uniform. Even if it was an ugly Padres camouflage one.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 well, I guess they'll spin it however they see fit.Good job by Hernandez to nip it in the bud.LoDuca isnt looking like no defensive upgrade behind the plate.Passball.
