ESPN gamecast has a much improved look this year, but it is usually anywhere from 1 to 3 batters behind MLB in my opinion.

ESPN's is much better this year, but it's just toooo big for my tastes. I can have the MLB gamecast in the corner of my screen and still have plenty of room on my screen to do other work. With ESPN's size and layout it's much tougher to do that.

I ran ran ESPN gamecast and MLB Gameday side by side last night for the final 3 innings. There was no appreciable difference between the two as far as the speed with which they posted pitches and results.. Pinch hitters and pitching changes were noted a little quicker on ESPN. The one thing I found annoying with MLB Gameday, was the ads being run between innings. I truthfully preferred the silent dimming of the screen employed by ESPN. Overall, I didn't notice much difference between the two other than their aesthetics and layout.

Hmmm, I've never used ESPN's GameCast, been using MLB since before the current version of GameDay!

I think the game-cast (or whatever they call it) at CBSportsline.com is better than either of them. The others are too "busy" and the fact that they're far too interested in getting you to participate in their links, pop-ups, fan polls, and all other sorts of interactive cross-promotional nonsense makes them tougher/slower to both load and use.
Both the MLB & ESPN sites make my computer throw up at times.

I just read through this thread and am surprised that no one caught another of Mex's comments that I found interesting.

He and Gary were talking about the 14 inning affair from the night before and of course the 16 innining playoff game against Houston came up.

Keith said that that game was so tense and stressful that he went through a full 2 & 1/2 packs of cigarettes over the course of the game. 2 & 1/2 packs!

When Gary expressed surprise that he was able to continue playing while inhaling all of that crap. Keuith said that when he woke up the next morning he could barely breathe.

Side note: According to Keith he hasn't had a cancer stick in 11 years.

In his book on the '85 season; 'If At First', Keith often admits to going through a lot of ciggies during a game (half-pack, maybe a pack?) but usually only a few puffs from each - more for nerve purposes than anything else.
2-1/2 is certainly way over the top but I wonder how "much" of them he actually had.

Here is the amazing part...if Keith smoked 2.5 during the game, presumably he had a few before it as well. Pearlman's book details how they partied on the plane (ripping it apart) and then went out afterwards.

I'm guessing his total for that 24 hour period must have been around 4 packs.
