I'm surprised it took so long for that Wagner comment.

If I had no job, a taste for trouble, and an agenda, I'd go up and down the Mets part of cyberspace posting, "I don't care about the numbers, I just know how he makes me feel."

i couldn't stand it any longer, so i went across the street to ESPNZone and watched the last 2 innings from a recliner right in front of a huge screen. I wolfed down 6 sliders and a brew in 15 minutes while watching the 8th and 9th, and now i'm back in my office.

i don't know why i bother to go to work on opening day. I never get anything done.

Pretty cool that we posted all this in a thread that was created way back in October.

He was booed, but it wasn't nearly as viscious as the shot somebody took at Omar over Marlon Anderson.

]The AP is saying the Mets won on a blown call at home by the ump?...true?

I don't think it's cut-and-dried. Watch Baseball Tonight and judge for yourself.

Sorry about the double posts....well I was harsh on Omar but Marlon left because he got a two year deal, I would rather have Anderson's chewing gum heroics than Franco's egg whites.

Thoughts on the radio broadcast team?

A little over excited at some points for my liking. Gary did that, but a much lesser extent.

Maybe the criticism of Coleman is as valid as some here make it. He's a little much during the in-game.

can you believe that some of the post-game sports talk radio blather is going on and on about how aful and shameful it is for billy wagner to enter teh game using the great mariano rivera's song?

i mean, it shouldn't surprise me what idiocy they keep coming up with... but THIS?!?

i mean, its OK that we allow mets such as miguel cairo and gus bell to wear the geat babe ruth's uniform number, but HEAVEN FORBID another closer use mariano's entry song!

really. what is the world coming to...?

they both came into the league at the same time, and both starrted saving games at the same time. and billy should change his song? mfy idiots act like rivera's the only guy to ever use it, had hte song recorded specifically for his baseball use, and had super-dibs on it.

idiots.

good first game. i was happy to see heilman for 2 innings not just one as that was a strategy i pushed hard (if he had to be in the bullpen at all.)

Well I see it as a "Why should we keep trying to be the Yankees" thing and that is why the Mets are often considered a joke by the media and causal/non fans in this town

Yes, Wags has had the song for a long time. Somebody like Hoffman predates them both, I think.

Mariano until a year or two ago had no idea what the song was. It was reported as a symbol of his zen-like detachment, but I prefer to think of it as a symbol of his business-like indifference. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

So the Mets supposedly stole an idea (which they didn't) from the Yankees, who stole it first.

It's an uncreative idea for either team to use the song. (Use "Through Being Cool." That worked today.) The dogs bark, but the caravan passes.

Which AC/DC song has Hoffman used ofr years, "For those About To Rock" or is it " Hells Bells"?, remember the 98 WS Steinbrenner made a smart ass remark about the bells ringing when Hoffman enters the game....

Hi-Def Mets is absolutely freakin' wonderful.

How is it that even Tom Nieto, Mets catching coach gets an intro, and Mr. Met doesn't?

So cool to see Jesse throw to Gary. Both guys about as twice as wide as they were the last time.

Boos during Opening Day intros is embarassing. I wish these classless fans would just stay home.

These helmets look even worse in hi-def.

I think Gary Cohen is much better on radio.

SNY absolutely positively must stop this TV-head guy advertising campaign.

I don't know what he (Hoffman) uses, but I'm pretty sure Rivera wasn't the first.

Moreover, this was a Wagner tradition that predates New York. Relief pitchers all over the major and minor leagues enter to that damn song. < dumbsarcasticcomment >So, the Downtown Manhattan Bath House Association should act affronted tnat the Yankees for use YMCA. < /dumbsarcasticcomment >

Really, what every team in baseball should decide on is (1) to stop playing the same songs other teams are playing and (2) to stop playing "Rock 'n' Roll, Part I."

For whoever asked, Hoffman uses Hell's Bells
*DONG.......DONG*

I'm praying that the Mets' actual batting helmets were lost before the game, forcing them to wear these weird spring ones.

We're lucky Soriano didn't tag up on that ball that Beltran airmailed. He would have ended up on third and scored on the ensuing groundout.

="sharpie"]Is this the first Met 4-hit debut?

Howie Rose said on the postgame radio that Nady was the second Met to go 4-4 in his Met debut. The first...Richie Hebner.

Great time today. Said hi to Scarlet, DDad, KC and wife, all 3 of the mini Knights and I met cooby.

Lat year I was stumping for 'Monkeywrench' as Mientkiewicz's nickname. This year I want 'X-Man' for Nady and when he's up, stand up and make an 'X' with your arms.

...at least while he's playing well.

Goddamn is Tommy nasty when he ponies up. Soriano was his bitch from ow.the first pitch.

I wasn't sure I'd be able to watch the recast without getting bored, since I followed the game online, but it's no problem so far.

My girlfriend's going to like SNY even less now.

I'm already calling him X-Man. It works for me.

It was great seeing you as well. It was a great time, and a great game as well :)

Beltran heard it pretty bad after failing to deliver with 2nd and 3rd, one out.

Keith: "There seems to be more booing than ever before."

SNY just played a clip of Ralph, Lindsay and Bob from the first Mets telecast ever. I'm really going to like this station.
