metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Boston for me, although they are not as compelling as last year.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Kind of wish this matchup didn't happen in the first round. As a Bostonian, the Red Sox are my second favorite team so I always root for them, but Chicago has been waiting a long time.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I'm rooting for exciting games in this one.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I have only one rooting interest in the post-season. The rest I'm just hoping for good games ... except to the extent where I believe that one team has a better chance of knocking off you-know-who if necc further down the line.I'm not so sure the ChiSox can do that.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I have no real preference, other than the fact that a Red Sox win would stick in the craw of MFY fans. But, basically, it doesn't really matter to me who wins this one.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I'm with CookieMom on this one. If the Angels and Vladdy Daddy don't take care of business then I'd prefer Boston to beat them over anyone else. But I'm kind of sick of Boston, too. I'd like a new WS champ this year.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 The White Sox have waited 46 years for a pennant, 88 years to win a post-season series. I think Eight Men Out has a statute of limitations. Also, would like to see Cubs fans squirm a little.I'm a wee bit tired of the Red Sox. I'll be there for them if it's Good vs. Evill III, but they conquered their demons. I hope somebody else has a chance to do the same.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I'm rooting for the Red Sox. The joy they provided me last October is enough to make we wish them well (so long as it doens't hurt the Mets) until no one remains from that team.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Pale Hose. My wife's family are longtime ChiSox fans -- just as the BoSox's curse ended last year, I'd like to put their soxed brethren out of their misery.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 That's a good point. A World Championship on the South Side would cause so much angst for the fans on the North Side.I've always gotten a perverse pleasure out of the Cubs drought, one I never got from that of the Red Sox. I enjoyed the Leon Durham grounder and the Steve Bartman foul ball.I voted mild for Boston, but I'd be cool with the White Sox. However, if it comes to White Sox-Angels in the ALCS, I'll have trouble rooting against the team that beat the Yankees.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Mild White Sox. I'm done with the Red Sox.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Strong Red Sox. Call it a gesture of solidarity with Bret Sabermetric. On second thought.....
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Remember that Bret went to Boston to root for the A's because the Sox didn't need to pad their lead over the Yankees anymore. That worked out real well.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I lived in the Bridgeport community, only blocks from the old Commiskey, for four years. In the evenings, I could hear the crowds from our apartment. The White Sox have been my favorite AL team ever since those days in the early 1980's.Edited for typo.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 I think we need a Man on the Streets of Chicago report from Bubba Sponge.
Guest SI Metman Guests Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Personally I don't see a purpose rooting for Boston. We act like they are our pals, but seriously is there any real Red Sox fan that would root for the Mets after the events of 1986?Go White Sox.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Go Sawx, they've been my AL team for years and years - not just last.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 After the Red Sox shut up the MFY fans about the stupid curse I don't care about them anymore. Go White Sox.
