Those Met Commercials - Take 2

What about Baginski?

"What about him?"

Well, he's only hitting .027...

"I think you have to give him time. The kid shows a lot of heart, plus his play in the field is much better."

Does it have anything to do with the fact he bought the team?

"Next question."

I love this commercial. The scene where he's calling his shot as the pitch whizzes by floors me every time.

Hey it could be worse, it could actually be accurate.

I just recently found out that Jeff Wilpon was once a 5th (I believe) round pick by the Seattle Mariners.

I hate to admit it, but the Aflacduck makes me laugh in the Chinese food
attempted delivery commercial.

I wish they'd just go back to the damn Foxwoods jingle. These others are so much more irritating.

Actually, I wish Foxwoods would massively slash it's advertising budget.

I LOVE that one. I was pointing it out to D-Dad the other night, who looked at me like I had three heads. But I love the part when he hears what they ordered.

I don't understand the Ricoh Post-It notes ads at ALL

I wish the Mets would please stop running the newsreel spoof "vote for Jose Reyes for All-Star" commercial. It's cheesy enough in a vacuum, but made even worse by the fact that he's got no business being the starting All-Star SS this year.

I agree - it's an awful commercial. Insulting to the intelligence of the viewer.

Plus, I always associate All-Star Game politic-ing as a 'small-town' thing.
NYC used to consider itself above that sort of thinking.

I know - just like how Knicks fans at the Garden used to be above towel waving and noise thumpers . . . but no more - a Garden crowd reveling in the "city game" is no longer any more sophisticated than the supposedly "hick" crowds in "cow towns" like Sacramento, Minneapolis and Indianapolis

I posted this in IGT yesterday, but it's worth repeating: There aren't too many things funnier than Mr. Met whittling a giraffe.

Yup.
Some longtime Knick fans trace the downfall to the introduction of 'The Knick City Dancers'.
I'm not sure when (or why) stadium operators got the idea that us morons in the seats would lose interest if we had to go a whole 30 or 40 seconds w/o being entertained. Jeez, we'd actually have to talk to the people we went to the game with or something.

When my brother brought my Dad to the Garden last season, they had to leave at halftime, because the overstimulation was so offputting that the oldd man couldn't appreciate the basketball that took place in betwen the epic light sabre battles, or whatever else they were throwing at him.

He's an old guy, but it's not like he's a sociophobe who can't stand noisy crowds. Heck, when he was a beat cop, crowd control was one of his favorite assignments. His BS meter just wouldn't stop ringing.

Nor his ears, I imagine :(

Well, I have to confess, it's pretty hard to deafen my old man any further than he already is.

I guessed the Aflac duck right. Is that the voice of Gene Hackman on the Oppenheimer Funds commercial?

Hackman does Oppenheimer Funds and Lowe's Home Improvement.

If you don't know who the AFLAC duck is you're an idiot.

Easy, Bong. Some of us don't get out as much as we used to.

I don't know, I've ended up singing it without realizing in a couple of embarrassing places.

Are they on TV, too? I don't watch TV. I haven't since the Mets-Yanks in the Bronx series.

Jose needs only a single and a double...

Woops: Wrong thread.

Have you guys seen the Toyota of Manhattan commercial with the guy sitting at the desk screaming like an idiot? How does something like that get put on the air?
