Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Ex-Yankee Devin Williams is looking to add to the column.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Well this will either be a big win, or a soul crushing all time loss. Here we go.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 “Drilled to left center field….and it will be caught short of the warning track”
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Luke Weaver — Player of the Game. And a damn good All-Star candidate too. Centerfield 1

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Mets = 9-5 over last 14 Yanx = 3-7 over last 10 Phils, who were briefly behind us in the standings, just reached .500 So it's not totally over folks. Things can change, sometimes rather abruptly and without warning..
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Nice win , some big spots ,Weaver excellent Williams looking better

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 This game wasn’t going to make our season, but it would have done a lot to break it. Huge win.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 They had this game on during my gig but I missed all of the scoring plays as I was really only able to pay attention to it between songs. Caught the last 4+ innings driving and then at home. Good win for the good guys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Bichette almost has to start hitting. Currently at something like 2-for-his-last-34, he could improve on that purely by accident. Whether he will start hitting enough is very much another matter. Bill Doran was once in the deepest chasm of all slumps. When asked about it, he said he wasn't in a slump at all — not anymore — because the word "slump" was no longer in vogue and other baseball players who weren't hitting were said to be "in a Billy Doran." Bo Bichette is in a Billy Doran.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Some thoughts on this game. *Obviously Luke Weaver was huge. But that also prevented Carson Benge from becoming Luis Castillo. Good kid. I’m glad he can laugh about it. *Bichette and Semien are so so bad. And they lead the team in PAs. You have to let Bichette try to find it. But do we have to run Semien out there every day? Maybe we call up Morabito and let Ewing play some 2B *I don’t understand the logic in leaving Raley in to face Judge and Goldschmidt. We got the win, but that means both Weaver and Raley pitched 2 innings each. Such a dumb decision. *That ninth inning is a lot different if it starts with a leadoff walk. Bellinger swung at 2 pitches out of the zone, including the payoff pitch. It’s not just our guys who make dumb decisions. *I don’t know how we didn’t turn two on that soft liner to Bichette. He’s just not a SS.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Semien has been far better offensively in May. That far better has been sort of league average (probably a .700 or so May OPS after two hits today). But i imagine he's going to be continually run out there at least until guys start coming back. Bichette should be hitting in the back part of the lineup.
