Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I'll have a go at the game thread today, as nothing has been posted, and the Mets lost on Sunday. As a topic starter, what do you think of the Peralta trade news? I think it's bunk, as it's way too early for such talk, and I think Stearns would rather extend Peralta than trade him. Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I don't care about Peralta or really any of Sterns' guys. I'd trade the living shit out of him. Tuesday Night Mets in 513 tonight
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Too early for trade rumors. Give it another month, Later

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I haven't read where Ewing will definitely be in the starting lineup. I hope he is. The Mets offense (a true oxymoron if there ever was one) needs a spark of energy. Later

All that was basically said in that recent link posted here somewhere is that IF the Mets are still reeling as the trade deadline nears then Peralta would likely be the type of guy they'd deal and so the Tiggers and Cubbies, both with injuries galore to their staffs, would be among the teams interested. Nothing in that statement is false, but it also doesn't make it news.

Just keep Peralta if you want him, and sign him to a 5-ish year deal after the season. MFS62 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago RF Benge SS Bichette LF Soto 1B Vientos DH Melendez 3B Baty 2B Semien CF Ewing C Alvarez Peralta on the bump.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I mostly like this lineup. Melendez is a meh for me
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Quickie KTE: Tiggers currently sit at 19-22 but that's just 2.0 G behind 1st place Cleveland in the meh-ness that is the AL Central. 17th in run scoring [4.27 RS/G vs MLB avg of 4.4] but better than average in preventing them [11th in RA/G at 4.17/G] although that status may take a hit with the ongoing absence of Tarik Skubal. Skubal last pitched on 4/29 when he was diagnosed with "loose bodies" in his elbow (better there than in one's head, I suppose). But maybe he won't be out as long as originally thought. Agent-to-all-impending-free-agents Scott Boras said that doctors were able to perform a less invasive than usual procedure on the 2x CY winner, one which Boras has taken to calling (and quite possibly copyrighting for all I know) the 'Skubal Scoop'. I guess maybe the fact that Tommie John never made a dime from his eponymous surgery upsets Scottie's sense of fairness and so this is his attempted remedy. On the offensive said, 25 y/o LF Riley Green is their big masher [.317/.418/.490 // 907 ] and they have probably the prized 2026 rookie in Kevin McGonigle who made the team out of spring training, then signed a 9-yr/$150 mil contract, and will turn 22 in August. Also missing this series due to their butts being parked on the IL: ex-NYY Gleybar Torres, ex-NYM Javier Baez, Kerry Carpenter, Casey Mize, Justin Verlander (say it ain't so!!).
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago After the last 2 games in Arizona I told myself I needed to take a break for a while. Watching the abysmal play of the current team was too frustrating and it just wasn't enjoyable. The debut of AJ Ewing has sucked me back in. It may only be for tonight, but I feel more compelled to watch him play than I do watching other team's cast offs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago McGonigle sure works a deep count. Damn. I think Semien booted that because he lost focus.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago This one about to get ugly. Peralta going to need a miracle to keep the Mets in this game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago 48 pitches just to get thru 2 in addition to the two runs.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Well, Peralta did a good job limiting the damage. That could have been a big inning for Detroit.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Just now, Frayed Knot said: 48 pitches just to get thru 2 in addition to the two runs. The pitches are definitely piling up. He needs a quick inning or two to get back on track.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Semien hit that ball hard. Unfortunately it was right at the left fielder.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Ewing with the best Mets at-bat I've seen in months.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Good news: walks to load the bases Bad news: does so in front of Mr. GiDP
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Ewing showing more patience and a better eye than mist of the Mets hitters. Now Alvarez needs to avoid the GIDP.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago 3 minutes ago, Frayed Knot said: Bad news: does so in front of Mr. GiDP Well, he tried his best.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Both sides are going to be in then pen early tonight.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago We don't do two out hits. It's just not our thing.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Peralta is kind of a gopher ball pitcher
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Fun Fact: Prior to that single Juan Soto had either Popped-up or Flew out in 74 consecutive ABs OK, that's not remotely true ... but it seems like it is
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Wow. Three consecutive hits for the Mets to plate a run. Need that 4th hit to take the lead.
