Mets Roster Central is working hard to adapt their work to the new platform, but we pause in our work to note the modestly surprising news of Ronny Mauricio getting bounced to minor-league camp.

Mauricio seemed to have the inside track on an infield reserve job — and possibly even the Opening Day shortstop assignment.  The upside of this news is that it seemingly suggests a far stronger likelihood of Francisco Lindor being ready for the roster at the start of the season.

Go work on hitting lefties, Ronny.  We will need you sooner than you know.

Interesting indeed. I think of Acuna and Mauricio together. Todays fate is the Minors for Ronny and Acuna looks to be winning the 2B competition for the White Sox

Probably no big surprise, needs to play , hopefully he's up and flying soon enough, he has so much upside

Yeah, he needs to play every day.  He wouldn't see a lot of action, and after his lost season in 2025, he needs to get regular work to hone his skills.  I still think he can be a valuable piece down the road.

Lindor starting the season is pretty much a given at this point. I think has been all along but became a certainty within the past week.

If Semien didn't have two more years on that contract, I'd agree with you, but I don't know. I love Mauricio, but he feels more and more like a trade chip this summer.

So who becomes the backup shortstop for a game or two? They’d recall Ronny for a longer stint.
