Back to night games for the final two of this series although note that Tuesday and Wednesday will both be at a 6:40 start

So we hit one nemesis hard on Monday in Eury Pérez, now we go for two in a row as Sanday Alcantara takes the hill opposite Sean Manaea.

The Marlins are playing every game hard and working their staff hard as they're still on the fringes of a WC slot. Currently they're 5th in a field of three but lost ground to both PHI & SDP with the loss on Monday. A sweep here would really damage their chances ... plus It would be nice if the Mets could ruin their post-season plans for a change, eh?

So I clicked through the rest of the season on https://playoffpredictors.com/, and there DOES exist a scenario where we're as high as the four seed. Does it require a LOT of things to go right, including us going 18-0, the AL winning every interleague game (except ours), and the Phillies finishing their season 0-18, among other improbable things? Well, of course. But ya gotta believe and all that.

What Gary failed to mention when he referenced the other two times a Met pitcher this year had gone perfect through five innings (McLean both times) was that we only won one of those two games.

Mets had a 3-0 lead after five vs Minnesota on 4/21 but McLean couldn't finish the 6th either and the Mets lost 5 - 3. Mets beat the Giants 10 - 3 in the other game in early April.

And after bursting the Alcantara bubble, let's not make a Cy Young candidate out of (checks notes) Dax Fulton.

Too late. Fulton is currently the presumptive NL front-runner. based on the last three innings.

I'm enjoying Kloser Kodai, but I'd sure like to see Duarte or Dedniel or the like get a ninth too.

Marrying oneself to a single save guy is a plague.

Morabitititito replacing Bichette on the basepaths takes him out of play as a defensive replacement for Soto in the ninth.

Maybe Pachework gets that call.

Maybe don't want to remove Soto for a potential 10th inning (or later) AB? Soto bats 6th in the lineup going forward.

Nats, Reds, and Cards are all the west coast, so it'll be while before we learn if the Mets gain on any of them, and the Pirates are winning big, but hey, they sure gain on the Marlins.

D-Backs, current owners of the last wild card slot, are scoreless in the seventh against Kansas City.

Watching the post game interview it seems like Sean Manaea has no idea why he pitches well, and equally no idea why things go bad.
