Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Your 2026 New York Mets: Finding new ways to lose on a daily basis. Today it was: Bloop, Pop-up, E-6, Walk, Walk, Bloop ... THEN the double play! That they weren't going to score in the bottom of the 10th, even with the Gift runner, was a foregone conclusion. Centerfield 1

Gary praised the Sox for good at-bats in the ninth, but whathisname the Mets closer was out of the strike zone the whole inning.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 In a different season this would’ve been a brutal loss. In 2026 it’s just another game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 There was a time that I both hated and looked forward to the ASG break , now I honestly don't give a fiddlers fuck.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Even the fiddlers are giving up on the Mets metirish and Edgy MD 1 1
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I know the Lindor error was costly. But Williams can't go walking two batters - one with the bases loaded -- and get off scott free. Centerfield 1
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Where does 40-57 put this Mets team in historic terms for a fist half for them ?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 13 Posted July 13 This team is hopeless. They just find ways to lose. For all the off season talk of improving run prevention, the Mets defense and pitching has been pretty poor.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Once again we are forced to point out the abomination that is a loss in extra innings without surrendering a base runner. I’ll never forgive Rob Manfred for ruining baseball MFS62 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 13 Posted July 13 It is an abomination. I don’t argue that at all. But part of the reason the Mets are so terrible is the inability to convert that free baserunner. MFS62 1

The Mets are 8-7 in extra inning games this year, and have played 19 extra innings. They’ve scored the free runner 11 times. In 6 innings, they scored additional non-free runners. Nothing about that jumps out immediately as awful (although I don’t have handy the league average stats). Obviously the extra innings record is substantially better than the overall W/L record.
