It's awful, but it's been the way of things for about five managers, and possibly longer.

I've carried on about it for years and years.

But if they cannot grasp that one needs to take a strike when the tying run is behind you in the ninth, it really opens up my skepticism about their approach in most any area.

This is a very sad season,  I haven't been watching much, I'll tune in later as there are no World Cup games , but damn this team is brutal

It felt like we were still in it even after poor Seelinger got his ass kicked. But it was that squibbler between him and Bichette that really killed him.

Soto is not a good outfielder; that is to say there were 3 balls last night that a really good left fielder would seem to have a chance on and Soto didn't come close. The third one looked like miscommunication between him and Ewing and might have been Ewing's fault; I don't know what the booth said. But that ball was in the air long enough to be caught. Also Bichette had a bad game with the glove and the bat. That kinda lack of execution even when you score 12, is what kills you.

Also, Senga and Warren can't be giving us innings like that. Not good enough

How about that Royals No. 9 hitter whose name I've already forgotten (Tolbert).

Too many disputed calls, sloppy plays, lack of execution to have called that a good ballgame but we were entertained. Going back tonight!

Not to nitpick too much on the manager that we already know is temporary, but Warren and Seelinger were left in far longer than was prudent.

Actually just came here to do a final autopsy on this disaster before this thread disappears to archive land.

Met pitchers faced 56 batters in this game and put 31 of them on base [19 hits plus 11 walks and a HBP]. That means, yes, they only retired 25 of them (44%) because two of the outs came via a pickoff and a caught stealing, both of which were only called following successful replay challenges. And one of the other 25 outs was on a bunt so that one barely counts (so NYM hurlers retired just 43% of those batters not trying to make outs. KC was 9/23 w/RiSP (.391) and had TEN of their 19 hits go for XBs (7 doubles, 3 HRs).

Mets had 13 hits w/only four for XB (2 dubbles, two HRs) and 5 walks but had the fortune of the Triple-error L. L. HR
