The Mets selected the contract of Jefry Yan, who has averaged nearly three strikeouts per inning while at Syracuse and nearly two strikeouts per inning on the year as a whole. They optioned him right after selecting him, but he's *this* close to making the majors.

With more experience, he may be able to get it up to four!

Well, he went from averaging about 2 Ks per frame at Double-A, to 3 per frame at Triple-A. So following that rate of increase, he should average about 4 Ks per frame when he gets to the majors.

His contract has been selected. Now the team has two old career minor leaguers on their active roster awaiting their debuts, 31-year-old Bryce Conley and 29-year old Yan.
