Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 09:41 AM Posted yesterday at 09:41 AM So if you're going to get steamrolled 12-0 with 10 of those coming with two outs while the offense leaves 12 on base courtesy of going 1/12 w/RiSP (and even that one hit doesn't produce a run), you might as well choose to do all that on a day where other side is throwing their best starter and we're in the midst of (yet another) bullpen game. Turn the page. Tonight's 7:10 start features another in a series of 'returns' for Kodai Senga who was slated to throw one more minor league game until circumstances dictated otherwise, Now I don't want to say that Kodai has been erratically available or anything but under the list of 'Last Seven Starts' in his BB-Ref page you notice that the first two of those seven are from last year and the most recent from April. Take a step outside, does it feel like April to you? ... didn't think so! So who knows what to expect, maybe "Pain" as in the words of Clubber Lang. From the other side's dugout, the 6' 5" righty Brady Singer has been pitching regularly this year (as he has each season since his 2020 debut) just not particularly well as his 5.61 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and 4-2/3 IP/S average will attest. Lineups and, who knows, maybe five or six new roster moves, to follow.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Senga looked SO GOOD in his first inning back in Rochester. Strikeout, strikeout, strikeout. Then the wheels came off. Oy.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM This portends to be a high scoring affair Like 12-11 somebody
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 05:37 PM Posted yesterday at 05:37 PM I the Mets are going to need a lot of innings from the bullpen, as on most Senga starts. Singe will likely look like a Cy Young contender against the Mets feeble line up. There are far to many players in the Mets line up that are hitting below .225 with OBP below .300. Team average of .229 with a team OBP .295 . For the season, the Mets have struck out 592 times in 2401 at bats (24.66%). It's very hard to build a consistent offense around such ineptness.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 08:22 PM Posted yesterday at 08:22 PM That bullpen usage chart may become very useful with Senga starting. Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 09:22 PM Posted yesterday at 09:22 PM Despite the imposing presence of Zack Short in the dugout, the Mets are rolling out yesterday's lineup for more. METS Starting Pitcher: Kodai Senga RHP 0-4, 9.00 ERA, 23 SO Lineup: Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) DH Jared Young (L) 1B A.J. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 09:41 PM Posted yesterday at 09:41 PM Seriously, you don't want to fuck with a man with a 9 ERA. You don't even want to catch his eye.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago This is Senga's sixth season with the Mets and at age 33 he just may be done On the other hand I am pulling for reverse mojo here LGM
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago Reds thru one inning: 4 runs, 2 HRs Mets thru two innings: still seeking their first ball out of the infield And, were being very, VERY stupid with ABS challenges, not just tonight but for maybe the last month or more.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I just saw the score. Reds with four in the bottom of the first. Another evening when I'm not going to bother with the Mets.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Well, there was hope. It got me to actually turn the volume up and not just have it in the background.
Radar Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Opposing teams will eventually just walk the bases loaded to insure not giving up runs. MFS62 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Oh good, another bases-loaded AB. What are we, oh for the last six or something in these situations?

What are we, oh for the last six or something in these situations? Actually, it was oh-for-seven. Now it's eight. At least this one was the first time getting it out of the infield but it comes with two outs so it wasn't helpful. Imagine how poorly we'd fare if they were doing stuff like this against Good pitchers?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Pitches: Senga = 68 thru 3 innings, or 22.67 per inning Singer: 82 thru 4, a robust 20.5/per
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Looks like another clunker. We suck
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Wow. This team is hot garbage. How is no one covering.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago It's fascinating how two teams can play each other pretty close to even over the course of a series, while one team is outscoring the other 17-1.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago 5-1. Looks like I may not be sticking around long for this game either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Mark Vientos suddenly getting something done. Maybe there's a law of conservation between him and Baty. When one is productive, the other is utterly drained of skills.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago The last four called strikes should have been challenged.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Benge never saw a strike. Horrific.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Young and Melendez both got lifted against the lefty, but right now, Baty seems like the guy I would have liked to see pinch-hit for.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Mendoza has some hilarious gesticulations, with his hands almost always mirroring each other.
