Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Eric Lauer, Toronto's 8th pitcher: 4.2 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 2 Ks, 4 walks (3 were intentional).
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Dodgers walk it off on a Freeman HR in the 18th , 6 hours 39 minutes, surely no one here stayed up?

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Wow , good for you, what time did it finish? Ohtani reached base 9 times, a post-season record
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 3 AM I think? Ohtani was walked intentionally 5x (every time he came up in extras).
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 I watched not one pitch. Presumably even during all of those innings a Mets game never broke out
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 =Gwreck post_id=207381 time=1761628628 user_id=56]Once again this game proves, if nothing else, how awful the free runner is in extras.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Klein was clean shaven at the start of the game. Later

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 I didn't make it to the 9th.Total time: 6:3911 combined Runs on 31 Hits (13 of Toronto's 15 were singles)Pitchers / Pitches: 19/609 (an average of ~32/pitcher)37 runners LOBShohei reached base nine times: 4-for-4 (2 2Bs, 2 HRs) plus 5 BBs (four intentional, three with the bases empty)The beleaguered LAD bullpen threw 13-1/3 innings and allowed just one run (on 10 hits and 4 BBs)Nine relievers threw 25 or more pitches with Eric Lauer (TOR) throwing 68 and 'W'ill Klein (LAD) 72And there's a rumor going around that when David Stearns saw all the pitchers being used he made six roster moves in time for today's game just as a reflex.Going to be interesting to see how the bullpens are used tonight and tomorrow cuz there's no off-day until Thursday and it don't look like rain in the SoCal forecast.Game #4: Shane Bieber v Shohei Ohtani

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 Sandy K. is in the stands and is looking pretty good for a guy on the doorstep of the big 9-0 (Dec 30)But he looked good for his age at just about every age since he retirement now 59! years ago.Has he spent the most years on the planet as a BBHoF'er? ... Probably. Some have lived longer but few (likely no one) have been inducted at age 37 and then become a nonagenarian.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 I feel like the Mets did not get a two strike hit like that all year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 But an ex-Met did so that sort of counts.Great AB by Gimenez and good two-strike swing.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 There is no quit in this Blue Jays team. Fun to watch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 2-2 after 4 games. So the series is going to go back to Toronto.Best of three for all the marbles.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2025 Author Posted October 28, 2025 btw, the Sydney Sweeney intro to game 4 on FOX might have been the worst I've seen ever!!Speaking in a breathy, little girl voice I could barely understand what she was saying.Acting ability and cup size are not necessarily related.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2025 Posted October 29, 2025 About Ohtani:To quote Rachel Weisz in The Mummy, "He's mortal".And it was fun to find out.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 Game #5: Trey Yesavage vs Blake Snell face off in what is now a best two-of-threeFun fact o' the day: Over the course of his 12 year career [1,271 G / 4,152 PA] Kike Hernandez owns a 707 OPS and has averaged one HR every 28.6 ABsIn a non-insubstantial sample size of post-season games [100 G / 316 PA] Kike sports an 835 OPS with a HR every 18.8 ABs
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2025 Author Posted October 29, 2025 More misadventures in RF by Teoscar lead to the 3rd Blue Jay run.For those who missed the very beginning, their first two runs came on the first three pitches of the game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Trey Yesavage was brilliant, watched until 10pm , happy to see they won
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 All year I didn't get why the Jays are good. I'm still not sure I get it, but, to use a 'ockey term, "they work".Later
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 I'm no longer watching American tv untill this hocus pocus is over and my benefits are restored
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 All year I didn't get why the Jays are good. I'm still not sure I get it, but, to use a 'ockey term, "they work".The Blue Jays have been playing good, solid defense. They are error free in the 5 World Series games. The Dodgers have played rather sloppy defense and have misplayed singles into extra bases. Then you throw in the free bases the Dodgers have gifted the Blue Jays with hit batters and wild pitchers and they help to set the table for the Blue Jay hitters. The Blue Jays have made the most of the Dodgers miscues by putting the ball in play a high percentage of the time. As the Blue Jays have consistently put the ball in play, invariably some of them have found holes and led to runs.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2025 Author Posted October 30, 2025 Sandy is like the Jimmy Carter of ex-ballplayers: Carter got elected young (52), served only one term so was a young ex-prez, then lived to be 100 so spent 44+ years as a former POTUS Koufax retired young (30), got elected on his first ballot, and will soon be within a decade of 100. Has been a BB HoF'er for now 53 years.
