Paul Blackburn making his 2025 MLB debut. He's been sharp at AAA (2-2, 2.70 ERA, 1.00 WHIP).

Pitching for LA, some d-hole.

I will miss nearly every bit of this game due to the late hour. Because the Earth is round, or something

LA matchups:

Blackburn vs. Dustin May ®

May hasn't been anything special. 3-4, 4.20 in 10 starts, 1.24 WHIP.

Megill vs. Clayton Kershaw (L)

This is Kershaw's fourth start of the year. He started the Friday night game in NY that had the rain delay (he only pitched 2 innings). He had a good start against Cleveland this week (5 innings, 74 pitches, 1 run, 6 hits/2 BB/3K). He got shellacked in his first start back against the Angels.

Canning vs. Tony Gonsolin ®

Mets got him for 4 runs on 7 hits in last weekend's Saturday game. Soto had the double that was a foot or two shy of the three run homer. He faced the Yankees this weekend and gave up 5 runs (coming on 4 homers) in 6 innings.

Peterson vs. Landon Knack ®, 4:10 PM Eastern start.

He pitched ok against the Mets last Sunday (3 runs in 6 innings, but only 1 was earned); Alonso got him for a homer. Also pitched well against the Yankees 2 days ago (1 run in 6 innings) although in fairness he was working with a 10 run lead by the second inning.

Nothing like throwing Blackburn directly into the line of fire.

Gonna be a rough week for TV viewing: Mon, Tue, Wed are 10:10 starts, then a 4:10 on Thursday followed by 8:40 on Friday and 9:40 on Saturday in Denver.

A 7:40 local time start on a Saturday night in Colorado ... WTF is up with that?!?

Blackburn?

What roster move was made to make room for him?

Seems like a positively lovely time for a game on a Saturday in the summer: enjoy the afternoon, can go out to dinner and then hit the game.

The Mets magic number is down to 103!

Team ERA is still just 2.88.

They can play barely .500 ball the rest of the way to still be a 90 win team.

Depends on whether the 7th of June is summer in Denver. Could be 90, could be snowing.

This will be a game where I wake up to look for aspirin or something stupid and watch a couple of innings

That Saturday game had to be pushed to 7:40 to accommodate a UFL spring football game. Well, not really but it is the Rockies

I'd like Paul Blackburn to provide five clean innings. It would be greedy to ask for more

It's bullshit that the Mets don't get an off day.

We go across the country without rest. We have to throw a sixth starter. And we have to play an extra game against the Dodgers. This is on top of the extra series we have against the Yankees.

Some bullshit scheduling IMO.

Nobody noted the leadoff KABOOM! by Lindor.

The batting eyes of Nimmo and Soto consecutively can really be a weapon to drive a pitcher crazy. Unfortunately Soto swung 2-0 and grounded into his hundredth double-play.

Doubly unfortunate was that he again didn't bust it down the line, which came into play when the relay was offline.

Youse can all go to sleep. The Mets don't lose when Lindor homers. You might even say that the Mets are ON TRACK to win tonight's game. Later, I'll show youse how I determined that the Mets are ON TRACK to win tonight. What a great idea this is. Ten Bullets of Cool, I give myself.
