David Peterson taking the bump tonight against a historically awful Rockies team. They are 9-47. Just for sake of comparison, at one point this year the Mets were 9-4.

The stats on the 3 starters scheduled for Colorado this weekend are really impressive, in a terrible way.

Friday: Kyle Freeland (0-7, 5.86 ERA, 1.68 WHIP)

Saturday: Antonio Senzatela (1-9, 6.50 ERA, 1.94 WHIP)

Sunday: Carson Palmquist (0-3, 8.78 ERA, 2.03 WHIP)

Yeah, NOAA has a chance of showers this evening but now

has delayed the heavy stuff until after 11 PM.

So it's probably raining right now in Corona...

I mean, I get there's a lefty on the mound. But Brett Baty has earned the right to play every day. An .889 OPS in May. He's had some good ABs against lefthanders too.

Zimmo had perhaps his best series of the year against Chicago when he was moved to the two-hole, and I am kind of disappointed to see him back batting fifth.

I'm becoming physically revolted by Alvarez at-bats. You don't want to look away because a moonshot could come at any moment, but it's absolute torture watching him fall behind 0-2 on a wild swing-and-miss and a down-the-middle called strike, then whiff or ground out to shortstop.

I am kind of feeling the same way about Vientos. While his swinging isn't as violently insane as Álvy's is, his decision-making is always off.

He has whiffed thrice tonight, so I am guessing tonight is the nadir of his season.

Good for him!

Did you hear it? It was subtle and passing but kind of great.

Peterson gets through 5.6 innings, then the wheels came off. Brazoban comes in and quickly ends the Rockies threat.

Mets leading 3-1 going to the home half of the 6th.

Brazoban gives up a solo HR in the 7th to make it 3-2 Mets.

The offense needs to torch this team. Time for some insurance runs to rebuild the lead.
