FYI

Sunday's Mets-Cubs broadcast will be on Roku, with Gary Cohen and Joe Girardi on the call.

Cubs: 22-16, 1st place NLC, 3.0 G ahead of Cincy

- They score a lot, 5.87 R/G (NL Avg = 4.53) tops in either league

- About average pitching so far but are now dealing with several starters out, Shota Imanaga and Justin Steele most notably,

and Saturday's starter is listed as TBD

- Pete Crow-Armstrong is giving them power, speed, and defense even as his free swinging ways keeps the OBA down (.303)

The Cubs steal a ton of bases; more than any other team. That's their defining trait this season.

Cubs are first in steals with 48. The Mets have 24 for the season, good for 24th place.

The Cubs also hit. Third in MLB in OPS (.780), and third in HR (55). The Mets are 7th in OPS and 11th in HR (42).

On the pitching side, the Mets hold the advantage. Their team ERA of 2.89 is tops in all of MLB. Cubs are 16th. Mets are only 12th in WHIP. So maybe some of that ERA is a little bit lucky.

Cubs will be throwing Jameson Taillon on Friday and Matthew Boyd on Sunday. TBD for Saturday.

Not unlike the Mets, the Cubs have had a very odd schedule to start the year. They've only played 6 games against the NL Central (4-2) but have played 23 games against the good teams in the NL West (e.g., not Colorado) going 12-11 in those games.

Looks like we're going to see the ML debut of one Cade Horton in Saturday's game.

1st round/7th overall draft pick in 2022 by the Cubbies out of U Oklahoma

Cubs #2 prospect and has been top-30 overall. 1.24 ERA across 6 starts in AAA Iowa this year.

If a rainout tonight, this would likely become a split doubleheader Saturday, first game at 1.

I doubt a rainout will happen, it's supposed to improve a lot

late afternoon. But guessing how the they determine whether

or not to cancel a game outright is like trying to figure out how

peace will guide the planets and love will steer the stars.

The infield is obviously covered and outfield drainage at

these newer ballparks is state of the art. Ready what?

Great to see they've moved Baty up to sixth in the lineup. This is only the second time this year they've started him this high in the order.

I don't understand sitting Vientos 2 games in a row. I get that he's started slow, but he's got an .800 OPS over the last 28 days (per BBREF). I doubt Brett Baty has ever had such a stretch in MLB.
