IF he comes into today's game with the Mets still in it, I will assume that he can get batters out. I assume that the Mets know a heckuva lot more than I do about Senga's present abilities and what he's got left in his tank.To tell you the truth, if Senga was "on" --- if his mechanical issues were solved, I'd prefer that he start over Peterson. When he's healthy and on his game, he's got the best stuff on the Mets staff and he, better than any other Mets pitcher, could retire Dodger batters while pitching in the strike zone. When the Mets announced that Senga would only pitch a few innings at a time (like two or three) at the beginning of the playoffs, I figured that he'd recovered from his injuries but that his stamina or endurance was still a little suspect. Obviously, that hasn't been the case so far.

On the other hand, if Senga is worthy of getting another start, does it really matter if he gets that start today or in Game six, assuming there is a game six? The Mets have to win the rest of the games anyways. They have to win game six as much as they have to win game five.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Peterson in Game Five, Manaea in Game Six*, and Severino in Game Seven*.* If necessary.

The playoffs are much fun when you have a strong rooting interest in the games but I don't derive much profound meaning from any of it. After a few games, I've watched practically none of the pre and post-game analysis. None of it To me, it's almost entirely unwatchable, all of it. Just mindless blather. There's some good stuff in there but the signal to noise ratio is microscopically tiny.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Well, I guess it's relevant to ask if Iglesias gets to that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 It's worth asking if, well, anybody else would have gotten to that ball in right.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Disaster already before I'm barely settled in. They induce Ohtani to hit a grounder that doesn't even bounce -- it skids ,-- and it goes through for a single.
