One of Carlos Mendoza's postgame presser mantras, especially when asked about how well the Mets are playing, is “we haven't done anything,” a message which seems to have filtered down to the players, all of whom are so much calmer in discussing winning games than they are while winning them. So much fun to watch play ball, so reassuring to listen to afterwards.



Oh, they've done a few things, but keep acting like you haven't. Whatever works. Quintana vs. Suarez for the chance to celebrate at Citi Field. But don't tell them that. They just have to play their game, starting at 5:08 PM on FS1, pass the baton, and personify the other practiced expressions of determination they've perfected.

The Mets are up a game and can clinch tonight with another win. But this game has that "Mike Scott" dreaded feel to it. If the Mets lose, the series is tied, and the deciding game will be at Philly and with Zack Wheeler, also a former Met, pitching for the other team.
