Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Sevvy is down to throwing almost exclusively sliders, and he may be done after five innings and 87 pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 One out in the seventh and Cease finally chased.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Coming or going it has to be Hoeing
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Garrett likes a good nibbling opportunity.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 A good time to have a contact hitter up and that bails out Garrett as Arraez grounds into two.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Sitting in petco, I notice, boy these padres fans really dislike Jesse winker. Does he just piss off -every- opposing fanbase, or is there something in particular he's done to the friars?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Did you get a pink hat?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 I think Winkie got in a fight with the Pads when he was a Redleg.Austin Jones keeps calling the outside slider for strikes, and it's killing Álvarez, because he's trying to stop swinging at that pitch.

I was in town waiting for a flight tomorrow and convinced a coworker to grab a game. It worked out well. So far.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 12 hits are encouraging. Tho I'm surprised Taylor wasn't already swapped for Bader.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 This is getting good
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Brazobán only knows one way to pitch, and that's to labor.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Brazoban seems determined to give it all back. If you can't trust him with a 7 run lead, perhaps he should, you know, not be playing baseball.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Alls well that ends well
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Well, I give him credit, that he had enough gas left to get over and cover first. And he threw enough that he might not appear the rest of the series. But, man.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 man, brazoban just had no desire to throw strikes, did he?

Huascar, despite being 34, has options. Sean Reid-Foley has been rehabbing at Syracuse as well.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Watching this game now. Gary showed astonishment that there were only four pitchers with 150+ wins. It's a low point, but assuming Verlander, Scherzer and Kershaw come back (likely they will), the club will like expand a bit in 2025, with Lance Lynn and Charlie Morton—assuming both come back—both likely reaching the mark, and Chris Sale will get there, too, or at least pretty darn close. Then it might be a while for the next pitcher to get there, but there's a BUNCH of guys (8-13, potentially more) who are trending toward getting there at about the same time...but that's a couple years down the line.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 It'll take a really impressive reversal of fortune at this point for Jacob deGrom to get there, however.
