Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 Got more swings and misses than Diaz & Meyers!!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 Really happy to see Megill out there in the sixth, but I'm expecting he'll get yanked after a single baserunner.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Adcock duz the job. Could be out there for the 7th, too.

Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Vientos hasn't seemed to be a problem at third. That was a good play!

That was a good play!Still doesn't always have the smooth movements you'd like to see, but he is less mistake prone than he was earlier so there's certainly progress.... and, on cue, he's replaced for late inning defense to start the 8th.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 Alan Porter has been calling a terrific game.Almost frustratingly so, sometimes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 To many light brown beards in the Mets' pen. I can't tell my guys apart.I'm surprised to be writing this, but it would help if they had more tatts.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) Bad bullpen todayMets blew a big leadHoping they come back Edited June 29, 2024 by Guest
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 And now we'll likely have to bat in the 9th and may regret double-switching Vientos.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Four walks in an inning is just unacceptable. If they hit their way on, OK. But you can't just hand it to them like that. They need bullpen help if they're going to do anything this year. Can't score 12 every game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Not helping is that Gary starts almost every telecast by saying, 'The Mets could really use a lengthy outing from their starter today' ... and they rarely get one.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 5 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks off the NYM penWe, meanwhile, have one hit and one walk off of theirs.Three good righty bats coming up against Hader [JDM, Pete, Alvarez]That might have mattered more with only a one run deficit.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Well, looks like there won't be a need for a closer tonight unless some ninth inning magic happens. They used four relievers in a 7-2 win yesterday., and were left with what we saw tonight.Later
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Two off days in the last 6 days and their bullpen is still gassed. That tells you something.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 Among other things: no Diaz, no Smith, no Raley, and starters who can't go longer than 5
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 The Astros came in as hot or hotter than the Mets. I had a notion that this series would come down to the last game.

That the winner of game three is gonna win the WS? That the loser of game three is gonna be relegated to the Brooklyn Cyclones league?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2024 Author Posted June 29, 2024 I think you know what that means. There's no reason to go looking for a fight today.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Total cock punch loss zero bullpen

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 It's possible we've seen the last of Smith who would be a free agent this offseason.
