Ottavino is a disgrace. I wasn't sure what he was doing in thus situation to begin with

Does 9–2 even qualify as a situation?

Yes, but I'm not sure there's anyone left on the Yanqui bench.

But it'll get better when Stanton rejoins the team ... oh wait!

That game got way less fun down the stretch. Well a win is a win, but it certainly didn't end up being the laugher it once appeared destined to be.

I went to bed at 9-1 with the Yankees just starting to threaten. So I missed all the shitty part.

The fans of the two teams look at their cleanup hitters differently. Many Mets fans want to keep Alonso. But (looking at Facebook comments) the MFY fans all want to trade Torres. I haven't seen one post that said they should keep him. I guess his lack of hustle is obvious to them , but we don't see him every day.

SNY has a video of Michael Kay complaining about an ad that says that the Mets announcers (GKR)are better than he is.

What a whining little snivel.

Torres isn't really their cleanup hitter, just filling that role now with no Stanton and no Rizzo.

But his main crime is that he's not hitting. Was terrific as a 21 & 22 y/o but he wasn't good enough defensively to stick at SS and his hitting has been only sporadically good since then to the point where he's currently in the midst of the worst season of his career [.215/.294/.333]

For a guy who once slugged 38 HRs (2019) and is coming seasons of 24 & 25, that he's now on pace for 14 will get you on the bad side of fans even before you get to the whole lack of hustle stuff. A FA this winter and still only 27 y/o, but I wouldn't expect a long term deal although Javy Baez, his closest thru age 26 comp, got one ... so yaneverknow.

btw, Javy Baez since leaving the Mets: .223/.264/.344 over 333 games and 1,333 PAs

THAT is a lot of out making (and a lot of 3s!) and he's steadily gotten worse each year [currently .183/.209/.247

* also, Gleyber is apparently dealing with 'a sore groin' although the YES booth to him to task for it also.
