His hero torches the guy and his tenure and possibly career end shortly after, and you get to walk off with the trophy.X-Rays on Alonso have apparently come back negative, and I kind of hate that I sort of have mixed feelings about that. A broken finger or two would have really derailed his career.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 The place was loaded with Asian fans on Tuesday including a rowful right behind the Tuesday Night Mets Club that talked through the game. By the way I don't wanna revisit Tuesday night but if Ottavino leaves his feet and catches that popped-up bunt everything is different. No clubhouse meeting, Lopez still has a job, everything. I know lots of other things that coulda changed meant that too but here was a mistake by the opposition that turned into disaster for the Mets. He's gotta make the effort to catch that.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Like a lot of weekday afternoon games, my original intent was to ignore the game in real time and then watch it during/after dinner as though it were happening live. But this week and month have been so bad that I never got around to putting it on from the DVR. Probably for the best that I didn't get through 8 innings of a close game just to watch the bullpen make doodie sauce all over my TV.

That play.Picking up Raley's option and letting Ottavino dangle around for a while before bringing him back on the cheap in January seemed like some good stealth moves for a bit but they're both blowing up in Stearns' face.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I thought this game would get the Lost in Space Robot banner.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 These things go in rotation. Any thematic connection to any particular game is strictly coincidental.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 I certainly figured that, but coincidence seems to be going very interestingly for the Mets of late.
