Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Hi, I'm Rafael Ortega. I was Met #1210, appearing in the 2023 season we just played. The White Sox signed me to a minor-league contract 26 days ago, eliciting all of zero memories from you. Zero. But that's understandable, seeing as I only appeared in ... 47 games! Holy shit, I appeared in 47 GAMES and you couldn't be bothered with giving me a memorial thread?! You suck!I'm sorry, that was harsh, but come on! You're, like, the Rafael Ortega of forums! Please, won't somebody remember me?![fimg=550]https://www.tsn.ca/content/dam/tsn/en/home/images/2023/8/13/rafael-ortega-1-1995708-1691980841565.jpeg[/fimg]
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 He had shown occasional power in the minors and I wanted to see how much he could contribute when he was brought up.His 1 HR and 8 RBI in 47 games said "not too much".Later

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 He was the opposite of Arauz, a quiet unassuming guy with quiet unassuming performances. I couldn't believe how often he played last year. I mean I could but I couldn't also.Among outfielders who wore No. 30 he was no Floyd or Conforto.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Like a lot of quad AAA types, I remember them more for their appearances in the 'Cuse, in the flesh, than I do for anything accomplished at the MLB level.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Had enough flashes of decency that it wouldn't have hurt to bring him back for 2024. Also, he stole six bases for New York. I didn't know he was that much of a speedster.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 I must have missed each of the 47 games he played in. 'Cuz I got nothin'.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Rafael Ortega out to make new memories, signing a minor league contract with the Mets and receiving a Spring Training invite.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 I pretty much tuned out the last couple of months of the 2023 season. I started having account problems at my gf's house (for some reason it thought the location was in the New York blackout area, but it's clearly not) and I barely checked in when I was at home. The team was going so badly that I didn't try too hard to get it resolved, and thankfully it didn't recur for 2024.So while I was aware of Ortega's Methood at the time, by now, his name is no longer even familiar to me.
