Let me check into this here thread again. It's been a while. The immaculate innings were pitched by Nolan Ryan and David Cone. I'm surprised that deGrom didn't do this during 2021-22, when he was about as unhittable as any pitcher ever was (when healthy).

The two pitchers that spoiled Mets one-hitters were one-time Met himself, Ray Sadecki and John Curtis.

Here's an offshoot: Three Mets pitchers pitched three pitch innings. Name them. BTW, with the newfangled furshlugginer rules, it's now possible to pitch a two-pitch inning. Here's how: in extra innings, the pitcher picks off the Manfred runner at second base for one out and retires the first two batters on a total of two pitches. Actually, now that I think of it, a pitcher could get all three outs on one pitch thanks to all of the new rules but this scenario, though technically possible, is extremely unlikely. Here's what has to happen: In extra innings, the pitcher picks off the stupid free runner on second base. Then he intentionally walks the first batter. Under the new rules, the pitcher can simply "call" for the intentional walk rater than throw four pitches out of the strike zone. Then with his first pitch of the inning, he induces a double play.

Wait a minute. There's more! I just thought of this. He could retire the side without throwing a single pitch. He walks the second batter just like he walked the first batter and then picks him off, too! Or the runners could make outs getting caught stealing.

That's correct, well done.

1. The Mets went 9-1 in the first 10 games in which Ike Davis appeared. In those games, Ike hit .355 with a .548 SLG, one homer, 3 doubles, 6 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. It's a pretty rare feat for a team to do put up a 9-1 record in the first ten games in which a batter (non-pitcher) appears, now having occurred only 32 times in the years 1920-1939, 1952-2010. But even more rare is when a team puts up a 10-0 record in the first ten games a batter plays with a team. It has happened a mere five times in those years. And happily -- for this thread -- one of those five times was by the New York Mets. Name the batter who helped the Mets win the first ten games in which he played. (This question is through April 2010, I'm not sure if it has happened since then).

Hint: Played for the Mets in 2008 and 2009.

2. An event more rare than hitting for the cycle, one Met player ran for the cycle, getting himself thrown out at every base in one game. Who was this Met?

Hint: Wore numbers 10 and 11 with New York.

3. What other Mets player was a college teammate of Ronn Reynolds?

4. Name 5 more of the individuals who wore the NY Mets uniform and were later elected to the Hall of Fame.

5. Seaver, Carter, R. Henderson, R. Alomar, W. Mays were already guessed—but we have a few more to go. Name 5 more of the individuals who wore the NY Mets uniform and were later elected to the Hall of Fame.

That may be (4) also. I'm not sure.

Did Hodges make it under the wire for this question?

Same can be said for Joe Torre when it comes to how far back over there these questions are from!

Who cares? Hodges and Torre are correct answers whether "tbeAmazingMet" knew it at the time or didn't when he wrote that question.

Eddie Murray, Tom Glavine, Nolan Ryan, Warren Spahn, Yogi Berra, Richie Ashburn, Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, Joe Torre, Duke Snider and Mike Piazza are all correct. Well done! Snider is the one I think of the least as being a Met, yet he played pretty much a full season with them.

We we speak of being "elected" to the Hall of Fame, we tend to be referring to players who came through the BBWAA. At least, that's the distinction Bill James makes, and he refers to the likes of Richie Ashburn, Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges, and Joe Torre as "selected."

Martinez, Kent and Reyes are correct! Well done. New questions have been added, with hints for the others.

1. An event more rare than hitting for the cycle, one Met player ran for the cycle, getting himself thrown out at every base in one game. Who was this Met?

Hint: Wore numbers 10 and 11 with New York.

Hint: Returned to New York in 1994 after departing the club following the 1991 season.

Hint: Perhaps the correct answer is Reynolds' Irish cousin?

3. To my knowledge, there has only been ONE Mets player to have his only official Mets at bat be a game ending hit (and obviously if it was a game ending hit, it was a game winning hit). Who did it, and what year was it?

Chapman, McReynolds and "trick question" are correct. Well done. Three new questions have been added.

1. To my knowledge, there has only been ONE Mets player to have his only official Mets at bat be a game ending hit (and obviously if it was a game ending hit, it was a game winning hit). Who did it, and what year was it?

Hint: Spent only one year with New York. Eddie Murray debuted for the Mets that year.

Hint: Was mostly a pinch runner and defensive replacement, appearing in 18 games but having just one AB for the club. "End of the Road" was a #1 hit this year.

2. On May 7, 2010, for the first time in Citi Field history, this happened. What happened?

Hint: Has something to do with the way the game ended.

Hint: Todd Pratt hit one of these in a NLDS.

3. In 2009, who hit the home run for the Mets at Citi Field when the apple didn't come up due to a malfunction?

Hint: Played for the Mets from 2008 to 2010.

Hint: Had a breakout year with the Cardinals in 1999.

4. Someone hit a home run for the Mets two batters before the one mentioned in #3 and as a result the apple wasn't ready to come up when the second home run came? Who hit that home run?

Hint: Played for the Mets in 2008 and 2009.

Hint: Was a catcher.

5. Approximately how much does the Home Run Apple at Citi Field weigh?

Hint: A rhinoceros weighs about this much.

Hint: Its square root (more or less) is a number a 13-year-old boy might giggle at.

Schneider is correct. The apple is actually 4,800 pounds, but you're close enough based on the hint I gave, so you get credit for it. With the hydraulics and guideframes underneath, the total weight actually lifted is closer to 8,500 pounds. Two new questions have been added.

1. To my knowledge, there has only been ONE Mets player to have his only official Mets at bat be a game ending hit (and obviously if it was a game ending hit, it was a game winning hit). Who did it, and what year was it?

Fernando Tatis it is! Well done. A new question has been added, with hints given for the rest.

Hint: Spent only one year with New York. Eddie Murray debuted for the Mets that year.

Hint: Was mostly a pinch runner and defensive replacement, appearing in 18 games but having just one AB for the club. "End of the Road" was a #1 hit this year.

Hint: His other major league team was the White Sox, with whom he played in 1990 and 1991. The year was Gary Carter's final season.

2. On May 7, 2010, for the first time in Citi Field history, this happened. What happened?

Hint: Has something to do with the way the game ended.

Hint: Todd Pratt hit one of these in a NLDS.

Hint: Kirk Gibson hit a famous one of these.

3. What was the weight of the apple at Shea?

Hint: R.A. Dickey's winning percentage with the Mets was the same as the weight of the apple (remove the decimal point).

4. Before David Wright broke the record with 161 Ks in 2010 (and his mark has been broken since then), which two players tied for the Mets single-season record for Ks by a batter? What was the amount?

Hint: Player One debuted with the Mets in 1968, Player Two in 1975. As for the amount, Richie Ashburn wore the first digit of it, Steve Henderson wore the second and Starling Marte wears the third.
