Jose Quintana is out of the WBC because of the pain he felt during yesterday's game. From his Instagram:

[bLOCKQUOTE] I want to share with all the followers of Colombia baseball. unfortunately I can't represent my country in this classic world, I have come dealing with a bother on the left side of my back, hoping to be 100% and attend to the call of our country, but today I had to leave the game because precisely the trouble still persists; it was a very difficult decision for me because as all my teammates I have the illusion to go out and give it everything for
🇨🇴
but as a professional I am aware that without health this is not possible.

from the distance I send the best of energies to the boys and the technical body hoping that we will once again leave the name of the country high
🇨🇴
.

Now I'm just completely recovering and trying to be ready by the start of the 2023 MLB season.[/bLOCKQUOTE]

Well if that doesn't get you going on a Monday morning nothing will

Tim Locastro with an RBI single tonight. He's having a good spring and the Mets need a backup CF. Still, I'm not sure if he can make the team with Pham around.

Perhaps more importantly, Starling Marte made his spring debut, going 2-for-2 with a double and a homerun.

Marte looked great as did Verlander. Split squad so there weren't a ton of opening day regulars in this lineup, but, still, nice sunny day at the ballpark.

Today's WSH broadcast of today's game is re-airing on MLB Network

tonight at 10 for those so inclined to indulge in or record such things.

Diggin' the Rays powder blue jerseys with the sun burst breast logo.

Ronny Mauricio hit his 4th HR of the spring and it was one of the farthest I've seen at Clover Park:

Joey Lucchesi spending his second appearance giving up three runs in one inning is ominous for all Lucchesi followers.

Several posters have complained they don't get WPIX broadcasts. The booth,

I have no idea who the guy is with Keef, just said all 31 games this year on PIX

will be streamed on https://pix11.com/https://pix11.com/

I tuned in and heard this , I'm curious who the PBP guy is

Yeah but not for schlubs like me in the blackout zone. Those games technically should have been on the SNY app last year, except they weren't, because MLB hates its fans more than homeless people hate toothbrushing.

Brandon's being very chatty in a dugout interview which is great as it's keeping Michelle on camera longer than usual.

SNY is airing the WPIX broadcast this evening. And I concur one zillion percent. I hope Steve Gelbs gets lost in Mongolia.

Yeah I cannot recall anyone ever hitting the ball over that concession roof/tent before.

That's not a lot of Greene backs

The interesting part for me is wondering what the Mets want to do with that roster spot. Rule V-ers usually make it to the end of spring training, if nothing else, with the team delaying as long as they can before making an all-or-nothing choice.

Aren't waivers a secret thing that you tend to not to officially find out about until after the guy is claimed or clears?

Give Billy credit for not keeping Greene around with the hope that he'd improve. The Wilpons would have insisted that Greene stay.

Other than the Diaz injury, back to what's happening on the Florida diamonds - I know some key players are at the WBC, but the guys left behind haven't hit worth shit. The only ones doing ok are Tomas Nido and Brett Baty.

If any of the other regulars should be out for a period off time (gasp!) I have no confidence that these guys can step in and do reasonably well.

(This is my annual spring training post)
