THEY LOST!

THEY LOST!

I knew they needed another hitter.

This team stinks.

Fire the General Manag..... oh, wait.

Never mind.

And it's a GKR telecast to kick off the spring.

Butto walks the leadoff batter (Berti), then K's the next three.

We, the audience, are NOT seeing the pitch countdown clock but it does appear on the SNY 'bug' once it gets down to 7 seconds remaining.

The bases are noticeably bigger but, despite Alex Cora's initial claim, don't quite resemble pizza boxes.

A 3-3 with a homer from Alonso is an encouraging start.

Especially if it gives him the idea that his lengthy pre-pitxh meditation routine isn't required for success.

Big catch by Tim Locastro and we remain tied at 2-2 halfway through the sixth.

No sign of Dom Smith yet, but the Nats have a split squadron.

An RBI dubble by Mark Vientos (who had struck out twice) puts the Mets up 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh.

Even more impressive was Alex Ramirez who tore ass, scoring from first after pinch-running for Tommy Pham.

Came within a foot of clearing the berm, batting lefthanded.

Abraham Almonte isn't quite as slender as he once might have been.

Missed both of these in real time as I had a gig last night and spent this afternoon tubing down a snowy mountain, so I watched big chunks of both games this evening. The dulcet tones of GKR are a welcome harbinger of warmer times

Early leads of 2-0 and 4-2 have dissolved as the Cardinalia exploded ahead 7-4 after José Chacin coughed up five runs while recording only one out, putting him and his 135.00 ERA out ahead in the hot sweepstakes to be the first guy sent to minor league camp.

Mets trail 9-4 as we move ahead at a quickened pace (already in the eighth). Your star of the afternoon is Tim Locastro, 2-3 with a stolen base and a runny scored.

David Peterson also gets some big points by giving up no hits and a walk while striking out three in his two-inning start, facing actual, real-life Cardinals.

It is. It's also like runny paint, runny faucets, and runny cake batter.

It's a lot like runny batter, actually. He was literally a runny batter.

Alex Valverde got raked for three runs in a third of an inning in the eighth, and the Mets fell behind 12-4, now 12-5 after a William Lugo homer for St. New York Lucie.

Now 12-7 after a two-run homer by Mauricio!! Pulling it lefthanded!

Did the announcers wonder (or even mention) whether Mets pitcher Hunter Parsons is related to one-time Mets pitcher Long(ball) Tom Parsons?

Watching the ESPN broadcast of today's game and the ever-lasting gushfest that is their St. Louis Cardinals coverage model. Excuse me while I drink my own wet shit.
