MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Oh, fuck. Now we'll be hearing "All Rise" all season on the local news.Later
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 And for nine more years. But the noise coming from Yankee fans if the team let themselves get outbid would have been deafening. Amusing, perhaps, but deafening. He doesn't have to duplicate last season to be worth plenty more than that initially, but the down years might be a different story (see Pujols, Cabrera, Cano). But Judge was smart to realize the Yankees lowballed him last year. And the Yankees were dumb to let this play out.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 this keeps the yankees from getting better in different ways, and i'm ok with it. now let's go get nimmo, damnit!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I guess it'll be interesting to see how many St. Louis Pujols years they get and how many Anaheim Pujols years they get.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I so hope the years and numbers are in response to Jon Heyman “jumping the gun” on a deal with the Giants earlier in the day.Like Norman Osborn in his son's head (Spider-Man II), the ghost of George demanding a wrecked budget for the next decade from his son!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 might be a good deal, might be a bad one. depends on how much more MLB cheats for him.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 =metirish post_id=114176 time=1670425313 user_id=72]I love the years
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 9 years for a power hitter beats 11 for a speedy SS (Hi Philly) me thinks.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 This certainly has me wondering what's going to happen with Alonso.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 we should extend him, fast. follow atlanta's lead for once.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Except he might follow deGrom's and Judge's leads, and spit at the very thought of extensions, lusting ravenously to see what his skills are worth on the open market.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Plus, Alonso (it's his 28th birthday today, BTW) is from the scumbag state of Florida. So who the fuck knows what the fuck he thinks of these Northern Rules us Yankees got us up here north.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 free agent at 30 DH? I don't think you worry too hard about keeping Alonso. He was 8th in isolated slugging last year, it's elite power, but that's one tool. by fWAR he was 40th. by wRC+ (so ignoring defense) he was 12th. Another wrinkle is that there's some concern Álvarez won't be able to be a major league catcher, but will still be able to hit. So there's more competition for the DH (and maybe 1B?) spots. Anyway, let's get back to MLB cheating for Judge and the Yankees.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Pete Alonso has played four years in the majors, and has never been shy of the camera or the mic. There's plenty of evidence in place about what he thinks.
