MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 3-0- Pfugging Phills in the top of the second, and they're still batting. First and third with one out.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Following a 1-2-3 six-pitch 1st inning, Blake Snell is getting dinked to death by the Phils in the 2nd:soft single, soft single, soft single, K, sun-aided double, soft single, GO (but bobbled so no GiDP), FO37 pitches, 4 - 0 heading to bottom 2ndNola pitching for Philly and Nola catching for SDP
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 So the Pads answer back by hitting the 2nd & 3rd pitches of the inning out of the park (Drury & Bell) and it's quickly 4 - 2
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Pads put up a five spot and now lead 7-4 after five.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Manny Machado homered for the Padres.Now 8-4 in the 7th.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 Wouldn't have put much cash on Snell outlasting Nola after that 2nd inning, but he not only did but even lasted long enough to get the W
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 So now I'm watching SDP/PHI (Game 4) via delay (am about 45 minutes behind).Still in bottom 1st but both starters are already gone. Padres hung 4 on Falters and the Phils, and SD's Clevinger was lifted without recordng a single out.4 - 3 SD but with the Phils still hacking in the opening frame.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Phillies, down 4 - 0 and then 6 - 4, now lead 8 - 6 after 5 (at least in my world it is ... I'm still about 20 minutes behind)Rhys Hoskins with two 2R HRs which gave the Phils their first two runs then runs # 6 & 7 to go ahead for the first time.Syndergaard in for the top of the 6th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Caught up to real time now: 10 - 6 Philly, bottom 7Pads jumped out to a 4 - 0 lead but have been outscored 10 - 2 since.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Padres need at least four in top 9 or else the Sillies, the worst NL team to qualify for the post-season, will be 3/4th of the way to the WS and will have Zack Wheeler for the kill tomorrow (vs Darvish).
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Hoskins is the shit.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Author Posted October 23, 2022 And Bryce Harper is even more.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 A phils-astros world series would be the 2 clubs with the homer-friendliest parks. I think
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Author Posted October 23, 2022 The Phillies were 14-17 in September/October but it didn't mean a thing because they made it.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Wow. Didn't see this coming. I think the Astros will roll over them. But good for the Phils.New Era just sent a mass email offering to sell me “conference champion” caps.Conference?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Bryce Harper hitting clutch post season home runs makes me want to shit in all of my neighbors' driveways.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 Go ahead. No one would blame you.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 "New Era just sent a mass email offering to sell me “conference champion” caps.Conference?"Howie Rose just commented on twitter that no matter how much MLB tries to emulate the NBA and NFL (after seeing a screenshot that said the Phillies 'advanced to the world series' instead of 'won the pennant') and this is another seeming example of that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2022 Posted October 23, 2022 I suspect that error is on New Era rather than MLB but yaneverknow. It reminds me of the times I've hear ESPN yakkers refer to baseball managers as the "head coach". It's not their fault, they simply don't know any better. Neither, I suspect, does New Era.
