Shawon Dunston yes, Doc Gooden, no.

Nolan Ryan (1969 Mets, 1986 Astros)

George Stone (1969 Braves, 1973 Mets)

Felix Millan (1969 Braves, 1973 Mets)

Danny Heep (1986 Mets, 1988 Dodgers)

David Cone (1988 Mets, 2000 Yankees)

Orel Hershiser (1988 Dodgers, 1999 Mets)

Shawon Dunston (1999 Mets, 2000 Cardinals)

Tom Glavine (1999 Braves, 2006 Mets)

Like Shawon Dunston, our other two remaining position players are African American, but our pitcher is not.

One pitcher remains, one who is extremely iconic in Mets postseason history, and one much more recent position player, who's deservedly forgotten.

Sorry, Steve.

I guess it speaks to when I paid attention most (my junior year of college) that the three guys I got were all 1988 Dodgers.

Only the most obscure player remains. Position player. African American. (I think!) Played one post-season game with the Mets.

The final player in this quiz is James Loney, who played first base in the one-and-done Wild Card game in 2016.

Seaver was hurt though, and not actually on the roster, right?

Gooden was on the active roster and just didn't get into a game.

Twenty-four different pitchers have started postseason games for the Mets.

Let's try to name them all. Usual guessing rules apply.

Since some of these are going to be very easy, I'll start us out Wheel-of-Fortune style with the five pitchers who have started the most games.

7 starts (2)

1. Tom Seaver

2. Al Leiter

6 starts (3)

1. Jerry Koosman

2. Dwight Gooden

3. Ron Darling

My memory is that Tom Glavine was the only healthy starting pitcher left in 2006. Probably not literally true, but he definitely started a game against the Dodgers that year.
