Yanx broke their five game losing streak out in Seattle late Monday night.

On the flip side, Matt Carpenter broke his foot (foul ball) and will be sidelined for a while and possibly for the year.

Judge hit his 44th HR although, even with that, Carpenter was Still out-HR'ing Judge on a per/PA rate this season.

Braves will spend the next two days in Boston then head to Miami for four games over the weekend.

Phils host the Marlins for three starting tonight as they prep for the weekend at CitiField.

Chris Sale is done for the year after breaking his wrist falling off a bike over the weekend.

The Mets have seemingly gotten more out of their extension with deGrom than the Sox have gotten out of their extension with Sale.

Braves score one under the clown car rules so lead 7-6 as they go to bottom 10.

But Sawx have runners 1st & 3rd, no outs.

Sox tie it up (Sav Fly)

"Don't forget to call me when you get (almost) home"

Second year Pittsburgh IF'er Rudolfo Castro lost it when he slid into 3rd last night.

Lost what, you ask? The cell phone out of his pocket.

Both runner and phone were ruled safe.

It's tough not to score in extra innings with the Manfred Man rules in place, but the Yanx & M's managed to put up blanks in the 10th, 11th, & 12th frames until

Seattle finally got the game winner across in bottom 13. Three DPs plus a caught stealing helped keep the gift runners from reaching home.

1 - 0 was your final in a game started by Gerritt Cole and Luis Castillo.

Yanx totaled 3 hits in 13 innings and are 2-7 in their last nine games.

I'm not even sure how much the free runner on second saves pitchers.

It reduces the number of innings that will likely be demanded of them, certainly, but it also forces them to constantly pitch with their backs to the wall.

Under-performing Tigers fire GM Al Avilia after seven seasons.

Owner Chris Ilitch throws him all the way under the bus:

Hmmm…suddenly realizing this could be used as a platform for the reinstatement, and induction into the Hall of fame, of a certain Red icon…

Assuming he keeps his mouth shut, something he failed to do when asked about the allegations that kept him out of the Phillies' Wall of Fame.

Yeah, he was digging a hole with his tongue as recently as last week.

There's always been a path back for Rose, and he has always opted not to take it.

Yanx scoreless streak in Seattle finally ended at 19 - all 13 innings on Tuesday night plus the first 6 on Wednesday.

It finally ended in the 7th with, of course, two HRs (one by Judge: 45) to go up 3-1 but then they gave it back in

the bottom half of the inning and went on to lose 4-3 (perfect 9th by Paul Seawald, his second of the series).

That's now 2-7 in August and 7-13 since the ASB

Their lead is shrinking but not really in danger [peaked at 15.5, now down to 10] as the hottest team in the AL East is Baltimore and they

started their charge from a whopping 23-1/2 Games back (are now tied for 3rd w/TBR 12.0 GB). And so, even with this NYY swoon, only

Toronto (11-7 since ASB) is on the verge of getting into single digits territory. Jays & Yanx have seven head-to-head remaining.

Tigers starting a lineup today which features four sub-.200 hitters including Javy Baez and his .262 OBA hitting 3rd. Eh, no worries, only five years left on that deal.

Red Sox beat the Yankees 3-0 in a game that lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes (despite being broadcast on ESPN). Apparently this is the second shortest Red Sox-Yankees game of all time.
