Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 (edited) Tyler Naquin is just the sixth Met ever that had a Q in his name, as per the UMDB. Can you name the others? Usual one guess per post, non consecutive guesses only please. 1.2.3.4.5.6. Edited August 8, 2022 by Guest
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 1. Jose Oquendo (1983) - KC2.3.4.5.6. Tyler Naquin (2022)
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Does El Deque count?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 Honorable mention, I'd say. Not one of the six I had in mind.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2022 Author Posted August 8, 2022 1. Jose Oquendo (1983) - KC2.3.4.5. Omar Quintanilla (2012-2014) - Edgy 6. Tyler Naquin (2022)

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Could the Q be in the first name? The Mets may have had an Enrique at some point?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 quilvio veras? was he ever a met?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Even with a massive cheating exercise the final Q is elusive!
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 i peeked. it's some dude whose name never occurred to me, and who logged a total of 33 plate appearances in 22 games, with appearances at 2b, ss, and lf.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 And he appears to have touched down between 1988 and 2012.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Author Posted August 9, 2022 (edited) Another hint: he came to the Mets in a deadline deal. In that deal, the player traded away (to TX) was a much more familiar face and presence in our lineup and is still involved in baseball as a broadcaster. And yes, the 'q' is in his first name in this instance. Edited August 9, 2022 by Guest

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Man, for a year or two there, Shaquille O'Neal was a helluva reserve shortstop.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Great reporting there [on Luis Hernandez]. And while you're on the mend, maybe you can give us another in depth write-up on our next fringe Met -- Joaquin Arias -- conjured up by your own last post. Just 30 Mets AB's, all in 2010, Arias was a midle infielder who didn't do much of anything. He was the player to be named later that the Rangers got from the Yankees when they sent A-Rod and his gazillion dollar salary to the Bronx. Arias is featured on Typewriter's 2010 Rock and Roll set because, natch, that was the set for the 2010 Mets. Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Author Posted August 9, 2022 I would have only gotten Mets #1 and #5 from this list.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 All players from the hitting side of the game. All names from the Latin world (four of Spanish origin, two of French). A disproportionate amount of players who went into coaching and the like.Pedrique, in addition to a disastrous half season managing the Diamondbacks, scouted José Altuve for the Astros and supposedly lied about Altuve's size in order to get them to sign the guy.
