No, it's more like "he's resting it for a few weeks" which turns into "it'll get better in the offseason" which turns into "a slow start to spring training but we're taking it easy" which turns into "surgery in May 2023 and hopefully we'll see him in February."

I am hopeful Taijuan can have a decent outing today.

It is far too early into the season to have him and Megill become ineffective.

Pat Mazeika may be back up in short order.

Kinda wish Buck would figure out if McNeil belongs at the top of the lineup, or Marte does, and stick with it. I don't get the rationale for all this constant flipflopping.

I just don't like the idea of preemptively ordering the Sac B every time there's someone on 1st

Now right after I posted that he took the bunt off (and Nido eventually K'd) so at least he's not married to it.

No doubt, but I don't think a pre-emptive/every time policy is going on.

A good general principle is to take what you're given — bunt when the fielders are back, and swing when they're in. That's overbroad (and over-pre-emptive), but it works terrifically, especially now that pitchers aren't hitting. Double plays are the worst.

I think he's close to that with Nido.

Not a huge sample size yet, but a bit too often and seemingly automatic for my taste.

Soto on 2nd, grounder to Guillorme (3B),

Soto goes anyway and is caught in rundown.

Batter (Bell) advances to 2nd while thrown trying to get him goes into RF

He gets up and heads to 3rd but Marte was backing up and his throw to 3B nailed Bell by about 35 feet

oe: or just see what DiComo tweeted

Yeah and why did Dave Martinez ask to pause and check the replay? There wasn't anything like interference.

I suspect they were checking the tape searching for evidence that any one of the half-dozen Mets near 3rd Might have been possibly maybe been in the way of Either runner.

And I think you know I (and you) stand on those kinds of preemptive search attempts.
