Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 So there's now been 157 Mets to debut with the team since Conforto did.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 1,162 is Nick Plummer!!https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEilcxZWYydNexYY88y3t1wBHNDG4hbAN6ybx1MLe22Byk4aoSSxxfVm2lTY7tGKM3kAY_sqxP0HrFqvnhJ7OyvmUf5ppq2OBViHPG8e5gXPBQzSDcXENU5tF7jL-0ppcJOsanvft-KHrIW5yyEFy-HZno2bTudizFmZKbN1P_n23QH21r_ofiLDMOWK=w640-h360>Not a bad day for a debut.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 Plummer needs to stick around and wear a number besides 42 at least once.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 Nick Plummer is 18, Matt Reynolds is 15 (uniforms, not ages).
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Ooh, I like when I anticipate well in the off-season and pre-add correctly. Plummer jumps into the binder and becomes autograph #1,078!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Plumbenstein has entered the game with a non-retired number, which I didn't get the chance to see. Mets.com has him in 68, but he's listed above in 18, which I assume comes from a more authoritative source.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Author Posted April 17, 2022 Mets press notes have him at 18.Also, he's wearing it.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Every Tom, Dick and Nick gets to wear Strawberry's old uniform number. But Gary Carter, who as a Met, had one all star caliber season, one excellent season, two crappy seasons, and one sheer rot of a putrified vomit in your own mouth inducing season, his fucking number has been in mothballs for 20 years and will probably be retired soon. And when you get down to it and really dig in to the analysis, and break it down, the case for retiring Carter's Mets number is what he did with the Expos and that by pure luck and serendipity and having not a thing to do with skill or talent -- that Carter's Mets teammates were, collectively better than, say, John Olerud's Mets teammates. Or R.A. Dickey's. Because that's the argument: he's a Hall of Famer and he has a WS ring with the Mets.I guess it pays off to kiss the ass of the media.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Fun fact: 33 Mets have worn 18 — including Benny Ayala twice, as well as managers (Art Howe) and coaches (Tim Teufel) — but no Toms, Dicks, or Harrys among them.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2022 Posted April 17, 2022 Just for the record, I'm not necessarily advocating for retiring Strawberry's Mets number. But he's a gazillionmillionbillion times more deserving of that honor than Carter.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 1,169: Mychal "67.50 ERA" Givens(I like when the Mets pick up guys who already have certified autographed cards available. Makes them much easier to add to the book.)
