G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 The New York Mets plan to hang out in Richard Hill Park, as do I for the final home game of 2021. For those not making the Closing Night pilgrimage, tune to Channel 11 at 7:10 PM.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Richard Hill Park sounds like a Kbo player,
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Pete responds to my criticism in last night's thread with #36. He obviously reads the CPF.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 That was quite a strong-armed home run, off the end of the bat andlike six inches from the dirt.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Oh, good, a WPIX game. That doesn't make me hate stuff.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I still can't believe everyone in New York can't get WPIX. Bassackwards.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Geesh. That means some of you didn't have the opportunity to play the Pixx Game as kids.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Why did McCann look to see where the ball was when he was chugging between 3d and home? Alonso was there to tell him to slide. Perhaps McCann forgot the route as he's run home so infrequently this season.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Not exactly tight baseball tonight: errors, walks, HBPs, lots o' pitches, lots o' time.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Still that was the best Mets inning in months
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 KEITH: "So, I saw Ron Fairly somewhere. It's not important where."ME: "So ... a brothel."
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Nice Trevor May clip there
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Yup.Nice swing by McCann who is having a day.It was hard to figure out why McNeil didn't tag, but Villar messed that play up.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Slammy for Lindy
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Lindor has two grannies this season, and I think one in spring training. If nothing else, he's the one who they pitch to with runners on.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Let's see some Kevin Pillar action on the basepaths. It's what God wants.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Catcher Pitching Alert
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 When Alonso sets the team homer record, let there be an asterisk for this one.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 Somewhere, Thelma Harper is shining with pride.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 I think Baez was in one of those There's a good chance he was safe but it would be miserly to start asking for replays at this point situations.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Posted September 30, 2021 The fans can take some good memories away from this game to keep them warm over the Winter.Later

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2021 Author Posted September 30, 2021 Surprisingly chilly at Citi Field four days after I absorbed a September sunburn at MetLife Stadium. But also heartwarming as hell, and not just for Conforto, though the crowd responding more and more to him as the game went on tickled my innards. Was very happy Hill got the win — and succeeded sac bunting in what might have been the final regularly scheduled Mets pitcher's plate appearance at Citi Field.I make a point of going every year (since 1995) to the final home game. This year's go felt a little perfunctory in the planning — maybe not feeling it after this dreadful September — but as I dug in up in Promenade, with most of a section to myself, I remembered the emptiness of watching last year from home and gloried in me being there and thousands being there. That's how you close out a home schedule. With people, not cardboard. The torrent of runs helped. This was my 11th game of the season (8-3), but the first one that felt fully like part of the great Met continuum I've been on since 1973 in terms of attending. It felt totally normal in a way the other 10 didn't quite. They should definitely have another season soon.
