Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 So the new Marlins mascot is ... a giant Cheez-it? Spider-Man's arch-enemy The Wall? A big Cuban sandwich?https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2021/09/screen-shot-2021-09-07-at-7.31.43-pm.png>
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 We've hit the 2-1/2 hours mark and there is one out in the 6th inning.During Ronnie & Keith's day (I picked 1985 for no particular reason) 1/4 of their games were already over by this point. The 2021 Mets have TWO (9-inning) games under 2:30

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 With healthy wheels, McNeil ought to be scoring on that error.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Since a hit here is too much to ask for, I'm beseeching the baseball Gods for three straight BBs/HBPs
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 =Fman99 post_id=76851 time=1631061060 user_id=86]Why can't SNY use a scoring widget that has not only the pitcher/pitch count but also the batter and his stats? The MFYs have it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Talking about the length of the game, but it seems like most of it was the bottom of the third.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Hey look. Another error
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Mets take the lead thanks to the power of Jazz & Pop.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Have the Mets hit 85% b/c I don't see any masks in the dugout (other than the bat boy)? Perhaps Desantis confiscated them.To be clear that's 85% vaccinated, not 85% of the double plays in MLB this season, that one's obvious.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Nice to see the opening pitches of the 7th inning slide in just under the 3 hour mark.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 May's looked terrific, but two guys have managed to hit their way on in an unlikely manner.I had been hoping against hope that the Mets would open the next inning with him, but that's not going to happen.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 That's a big bad ass K there by May.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Maybe Jazz is supposed to be a secondbaseman after all.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Clutch knock by JD Davis! Ceets was just saying on our podcast that he needs to be in the lineup more

They do weird shit, but they go all-in on it.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Brad Hand with the seriously goofy looking mustache. Are you here to pitch, or fix the copier?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Eric Clapton isn't scheduled to perform, but Slow Hand is putting on a show.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 So, whatta ya figure, this game is 60% in the bag at this point? 70?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 3:59 but worth it for a win.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 100% now.Phillies getting destroyed so the Mets gain on them. They also catch St. Louis in the Wild Card race provided the Dodgers close the deal.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 The first game the Mets have ever played in which they've notched precisely 9 runs, 6 hits, 3 errors.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2021 Posted September 7, 2021 Dodgers win. Mets catch the Cards. Albert Pujols hits his 679th career homer in his old haunts.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 J.D. Davis? WHERE ARE YOUWho do you want to sit? Villar? Baez? Lindor? McNeil, and put Davis in left? Pillar, and put Conforto in center? Suggestions please.specifics io the podcast: https://www.barleyprose.com/podcast/mets-on-tap-episode-23/https://www.barleyprose.com/podcast/mets-on-tap-episode-23/but essentially, yeah, put Davis in left and figure it out. The only player on the Mets with a higher wRC+ is Nimmo and we just basically lost him.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 They're playing Smith out there, who's come along a little bit, but not enough and he also doesn't hit. You could spot sit Báez, though the drop-off from Davis to him isn't as stark as to Pillar or Smith or McNeil. It's working okay against these garbage teams, but the Mets desperately need the added offense. But yes, some of this is a product of not having the foresight to play Davis in LF in the minors when he was rehabbing this injury. Or, you know, signing Springer.
