kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Game will resume at 4:10 this afternoon. Mets are down 3-1 and the Nationals are batting in the top of the second with no outs and a man on first. No idea if Carasco will continue to pitch. An 'Excessive Heat Warning' will be ineffect come game time and there is a 30% chance of thunderstorms.http://phpbb3.leaptoad.com/mets/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30664Orignal In-Game Thread is Here
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Excessive Heat + Thunderstorms is generally a dangerous recipe.Do the teams get their extra dude for the roster?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 How come this is a suspended game? I always thought that if the rains came prior to the finish of the fifth inning it was considered a rain out, the stats were wiped out, and the game rescheduled and started fresh. Was there a rule change on this?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I missed that! Thanks!

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I'll say it again-- we were on our way to victory last night before the weather interrupted. Zimmo, Alonso and Smith all hit the ball hard and that was that.I dunno who pitches now, will probably get all Yenssy again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Are these two games single admission or double?Because I can imagine the weather/last-minute rescheduling/weekday afternoon factors might lead to a crowd of about 75 peeps if they aren't willing to admit folks with a ticket to the later game early.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Author Posted August 11, 2021 Need a ticket for today's game to get in.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I don't understand the thought process behind burning Carrasco with that downpour coming. Not that he was any good anyway.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Was a topic on the Shawn Green Episode of Mets On Tap for sure.https://www.barleyprose.com/podcast/mets-on-tap-episode-20/https://www.barleyprose.com/podcast/mets-on-tap-episode-20/
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I hope you edited out the part where none of us could remember who wears #20 right now.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I think it might be Alonso
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 It's a shame there's not a site devoted to uniform numbers where we could've had it loaded up.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Ed Coleman subbing for Howie is like Jared Eickhoff starting instead of Jake.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 So within the same game, Dom got thrown out on the bases and misplayed a flyball. Good thing he's crushing the ball. And now McNeil boots an easy play. Awful D on a team with awful O.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Well, we got a couple of innings of Rich Hill followed by one of poor Hill.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Luis left Hill in too long. Once he walked the leadoff hitter he was done but that cheap hit was followed by the solid hit and now the Mets are losing again. Luis has no feel for pitching changes. The Mets are playing a AAA-level team (plus a superstar) and have given up 7 runs in 4+ innings.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 McNeil, surprised at being sent ... but not as surprised as the Nats.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Gotta win this one. Javy to PH here
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 And because Baez is a PH, this does NOT count as a mound visit!!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 And he goes on 3 pitches
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 The third of which was closer to the 1st base dugout than the plate.Good thing the Nats delayed the game an extra two minutes to come up with that strategy. No way they could have known how to pitch him otherwise.2:15 just to get to the 7th inning ... and they started in the 2nd!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 (edited) I'm surprised that he didn't hurt his back more while swinging at a pitch two feet outside. Edited August 11, 2021 by Guest
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Something that we knew just from watching:
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 but keeping trying to steal Villar.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I think Klobositis is one of the side effects of Covid Pete needs to vaccinate a pitch here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 I'm not sure it's Villar's aggressiveness (or even necessarily aggressiveness) that has been the major factor. But hopefully Pete can do his baserunning in a trot.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
