They'll be SHaM'n, SHaM'n, SHaM'n on the river

Listen to the story!

How about that subtext last night, when the camera pointed across the river, and Gary said, "And across the Ohio River, we see the State of Kentucky" and right there in the middle of the shot is a white guy without a shirt sitting on a beach chair by the river bank just doing nothing?

It'd be fun if the team traveled from Pittsburgh to Cininnati by boat, but I'm guessing that would not be as quick a trip as all that.

According to https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/cir439this page, it would take between 7 and 28 days.

I'm not clear on what it's saying, though. It may be saying that that's how long it would take if you were just drifting with the flow of the water. It may be quicker if the boat is being powered.

If anyone noticed, they bailed from their seats. At the end of the game there were

two women sitting there. Actually, I hope they're back tonight.

There may have been more than one river guy caught on camera. I've been jumping through the broadcast and I was able to find this guy, who is shirted and actually doing something (if passively), so my apologies to him and his kin if I've misrepresented him, but I seemingly remember somebody who better fit JCL's description.

Funny, the first thing I thought was trying to see what cheap beer he had.

The obvious fact that he was a white guy in Kentucky didn't occur to me until

Edgy (the great 'splainer of things*) brought it up.

*add salt grains and some tongue in cheek for effect...

There are many cruises you can take on the Ohio River:

When I stayed at the old "Big E" hotel in Owensboro, KY (a beautiful place that was gutted by fire and now replaced) there was a stop for one of the old paddleboat steamers. One came to dock there and it was like looking at a page out of history.

I was thinking while enjoying the scenery ... that's not "nothing"!

I was just in Pittsburgh around July 4 (saw the Pirates beat the Braves 11-1, delightful) and drove through Cincinnati on my way to a wedding. It's a long drive (plus the highway was shut down for part of the way so had to backtrack through Cincinnati streets which was terrible). The boat down the Ohio would have been preferable.

Why didn't they recall Blankenship to replace Peraza? They have a 3-player bench tonight. I'm guessing it's because Banda and May aren't available and Diaz is iffy.

There was definitely a shirtless guy from Kentucky yesterday.

In today's news, Nogosek takes a break from fixing copiers and banging 70's broads with big pubic thatches to come in and play some ball. Welcome to the party!

OK, I give up, why was there just shy of three and a half minutes between the final pitch of the 2nd inning and the first pitch of the 3rd?

They were supposedly going to more strictly enforce the 2:05 limit but instead this gap was nearly 50% longer than allowed and for no apparent reason.

Yeah. Maybe it would be safer to only keep Nido on the bench and just have more relievers for the inevitable injuries. I'm kidding, I think.

Was Aquino positioned on the track for that drive by Conforto? It seemed there was no way he could get back there in time.

If you're going to pull Nogosek after just one more inning then you should have PH for him. Still gotta win the game.

Hartlieb has a little bit.

Pretty cool to even be in this game considering the four guys they've used today are something other than their top choices.
