Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 This certainly looks like a favorable matchup!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Author Posted July 20, 2021 They'll be SHaM'n, SHaM'n, SHaM'n on the riverListen to the story!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 How about that subtext last night, when the camera pointed across the river, and Gary said, "And across the Ohio River, we see the State of Kentucky" and right there in the middle of the shot is a white guy without a shirt sitting on a beach chair by the river bank just doing nothing? It'd be fun if the team traveled from Pittsburgh to Cininnati by boat, but I'm guessing that would not be as quick a trip as all that.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Author Posted July 20, 2021 I saw a guy, not a white guy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Well, I hope the bass guy from Titty Twister is back tonight.

It may be saying that that's how long it would take if you were just drifting with the flow of the water. It may be quicker if the boat is being powered.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 He was definitely white, had the farmers tan and what looked like on old-school generic canned beer
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 There may have been more than one river guy caught on camera. I've been jumping through the broadcast and I was able to find this guy, who is shirted and actually doing something (if passively), so my apologies to him and his kin if I've misrepresented him, but I seemingly remember somebody who better fit JCL's description.https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2021/07/fish.png>
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Author Posted July 20, 2021 (edited) Funny, the first thing I thought was trying to see what cheap beer he had.The obvious fact that he was a white guy in Kentucky didn't occur to me untilEdgy (the great 'splainer of things*) brought it up. *add salt grains and some tongue in cheek for effect... One came to dock there and it was like looking at a page out of history.Later

cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 I was just in Pittsburgh around July 4 (saw the Pirates beat the Braves 11-1, delightful) and drove through Cincinnati on my way to a wedding. It's a long drive (plus the highway was shut down for part of the way so had to backtrack through Cincinnati streets which was terrible). The boat down the Ohio would have been preferable.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Why didn't they recall Blankenship to replace Peraza? They have a 3-player bench tonight. I'm guessing it's because Banda and May aren't available and Diaz is iffy.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 There was definitely a shirtless guy from Kentucky yesterday. In today's news, Nogosek takes a break from fixing copiers and banging 70's broads with big pubic thatches to come in and play some ball. Welcome to the party!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 OK, I give up, why was there just shy of three and a half minutes between the final pitch of the 2nd inning and the first pitch of the 3rd?They were supposedly going to more strictly enforce the 2:05 limit but instead this gap was nearly 50% longer than allowed and for no apparent reason.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Yeah. Maybe it would be safer to only keep Nido on the bench and just have more relievers for the inevitable injuries. I'm kidding, I think.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Was Aquino positioned on the track for that drive by Conforto? It seemed there was no way he could get back there in time.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 So, do we know yet what happened to Stockpile?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Came up gimpy running out his grounder to end the top of the 2nd inning. Looked like a hamstring from where I be sittin
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 If you're going to pull Nogosek after just one more inning then you should have PH for him. Still gotta win the game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Got a three-man bench. No good options.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Mets doing nothing but hitting the ball hard and finding gloves.Miley isn't knocking my socks off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 20, 2021 Posted July 20, 2021 Hartlieb has a little bit.Pretty cool to even be in this game considering the four guys they've used today are something other than their top choices.
