Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 29, 2021 Posted June 29, 2021 Is scratching out one-run wins late after getting shut down through the first 2/3 of a game a sustainable model? The Mets aim to explore that question in depth on Wednesday as they enter game two vs. the Braves. You may feel somewhat fried under this blazing June sun, but the guy the Mets are facing is MAX Fried.Brandon Nimmo played the full game in center as Syracuse beat Rochester tonight, and I'm going to express the sentiment that he displaces Albert Almora before first pitch. Although, that might work out differently if hot-takin' Guy Boucher has his way.https://twitter.com/GuyBoucherGOAT/status/1410065651461496833See you at The Launching Pad, Guy!http://sabr.org/sites/default/files/1969-Mets-Braves-Topps.jpg>

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I love Nimmo, but I think the Braves should hire this Boucher fella as their general manager STAT.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Mets playing the Braves and MFYs back-to-back as the season's midpoint approaches, sporting a better record than both. Circa 2000 me would have killed for such a scenario.

It may be good for the win-loss record, but this crap is very dangerous to my heart and blood pressure. I'm a wreck after games.Hey guys. How about a few blowout wins? I'll thank you.Later

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 It looks more like Peraza is the stead guy for McNeil.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I understand that an "L" is starting but McKinney and Luis are "L's" and they're in the lineup while fellow "L's" Dom and McNeil are not. I'd rather see McNeil get more ABs than Peraza.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Benjamin Grimm wrote:It looks more like Peraza is the stead guy for McNeil.Well, the notion is that Peraza has effectively been Guillorme's platooney partner, and so should be expected to be in under any circumstances. This would suggest that Guillorme playing against the lefty is at the expense of McNeddy.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I like both Peraza and Guillorme.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Perhaps but possibily over-thinking by a manager who over-thinks everything... or a staff that inputs too much data. I hope he (or they) made the right decisions.Helluva AB by the $300M player.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Hey, I was eating so i couldn't post, but nobody here's has noted four first-inning runz.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Hey, anybody see that catch by Conforto?Ya see Peterson whiff Acuña the second time around?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Braves are slapping their way through a two out rally here and Peterson's in a 4-2 hole.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I got a good idea, let's totally embarrass ourselves out there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 The odds of the Braves ending this inning still only with single-digit runs is shrinking by the minute.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Old-timey baseball with the Braves dropping a ton of dinks and doinks in front of the outfielders.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Not a fan of Alonso laughing and chuckling it up with Freeman down by four.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 I believe NYM pitchers have thrown 105 pitches in the 3rd & 4th innings combined ... and gotten four outs out of it.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 For all those that said, "the Mets are still in first place" it will still be true but only by two games if this game ever ends.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) Not a fan of Alonso laughing and chuckling it up with Freeman down by four.I would. It's freakin' baseball and barring a horrible injury, Alonso's gonna be as "rich as Rockefeller" in a coupl'a years while he's still in his freakin' 20s. Not that Alonso's hurtin' for dough right now. Edited June 30, 2021 by Guest
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) Send him down. I've never said that after one pitch in the majors but there you go. Another shitty Mets minor leaguer, indistinguishable from other shitty Mets minor leaguers. It will take a few years for the new regime to clean up the mess that Jeffy and BVW created.
