Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 McCann comes through, like a rock n roll dream
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Wow. I was wondering if Guillorme might try for the super-rare two-base tag-up there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 The double walkoff on 7/31/83 was the double-header featuring Jesse Orosco winning both ends.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Why is SRF pitching? He was bad enough to get sent down last week and now he's pitching in a tie-game?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 I love SR-F as much as the next guy, but yeah, he's certainly not my first choice.(Unless bmfc is the next guy.)
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Ouch. Let's get one or two in!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 SRF didn't do anything wrong and the IF didn't do their jobs. Lindor had him at 3d and Guillorme had him at the plate.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Also ... Conforto doesn't stay in the game?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 (edited) Not often where a team scores a run in a four pitch inning where nothing leaves the infield until the 3rd out ... but that's MLB circa 2021 Edited June 25, 2021 by Guest
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 No, seriously. Diaz is the team's best reliever, he didn't pitch in game 1, Thursday was an off day, there is no save chance.Either he's hurt or this is managerial malpractice.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 The offense still sucks. Pete has become a singles hitter. Maybe he should bat leadoff like Schwarber to wake him up.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 The offense still sucks.....It's the ball. Look at the Mets numbers. They truly are right out of 1968. They're atrocious and they're team-wide. Also, the Mets are using a humidor this season. This is getting almost no attention in the media but must be having a significant run suppressing effect because Citi Field is the second best pitcher's park this season. The only park that's suppressing offense even more so than Citi is Marlins Park and that's yet another thing: three of the four most run suppressing parks this season are in the NL East - Citi Field, Marlins Park and Nats Park. So Mets hitters are disproportionately batting in extreme pitcher's parks in 2021.This is all also why deGrom's so unhittable this season. For a player to be performing at such an extreme record-setting level, as deGrom is doing - to be doing something that hasn't ever been done in a game that's been played for over 150 years, everything has to be going the player's way. He has to be the best in the majors at what he's doing, but also, conditions have to be in his favor.2021 MLB park effects:https://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/parkfactorhttps://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/parkfactor
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Why would the Mets use a humidor? This isn't exactly Phoenix.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 “Edwin Diaz (five-out save on Wednesday) and Aaron Loup (three innings pitched on Tuesday) were both unavailable tonight, per Rojas.” —-Of course they lost because they couldn't score runs, but with a 4 run lead there was no need to put Diaz back out for the 9th inning on Wednesday. Especially if that was going to make him unavailable for both games of a DH on Friday. Not good, Luis.

Citi Field was always a pitcher's park, in every aspect, suppressing hits, scoring and home runs. So why a humidor?Several other teams have also added humidors for this season, contributing to this season's historic lack of offense.
