Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 That lineup is a real Murdered Row there
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I'd bat deGrom 3rd in that lineup.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Strike 3 to Drury was borderline. Strike 1 to McCann wasn't close.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Mets are very taking-strike-three this evening.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I'm all for the small-ball strategies here.I'm not for sliding like you've never done it before.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Mets trying their very best to not score despite two hits and a walk in the frame.oe. two hits and two walks
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Dom laying off pitches he was chasing a few weeks back.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 DeGroim 45 pitches after 4 innings. TIME TO PULL HIM, LUIS.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Well, looks like JdG is locked in. Eight in a row. This is starting to seem like a big game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Three innings worth of pitches (45) to get through four innings ... not easy to do six Ks

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I don't know how people enjoyed major league baseball for 125 years with all the uncertainty over whether or not a baserunner's body may have come a incremental distance off the bag for a fraction of a second.

Rockies held the tag on the runner both times.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 MLB is tinkering with the rules in A-ball to encourage stealing but sure, let's penalize a player for accidentally, because of physics, leaving the bag for a fraction of a second even though he was clearly safe. Those two calls tell you not to steal, not to take an extra base, which makes baseball even duller than it can be.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Need a sliding coach on the bench pronto. We got this! #lgm #ygb #ymdyf.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I think those two calls tell me not to be stupid when I slide. It's up to me to listen.Four balls for Villar. Let's see if he over-walks first base.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Not only was Villar thrown out, but had he been safe, he bounced off the bag twice.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Maybe baseball should make up a rule that Mets baserunners are allowed to walk off the base whenever they feel like it, with impunity, and the defense isnt allowed to tag them out while they're off the base.Yeah, it's the rules' fault that Villar and deGrom were tagged out, not Villar or deGrom's fault. /rollseyes
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 After that, baseball could make up another rule where if a Mets batter doesn't like the way his batted ball traveled, he could ask for a do-over.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Sixty-three pitches. Not only do we lose deGrom on the mound, but we lose his bat as well.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Here's another rule proposal: whenever the Mets opponent wants to challenge an ump's call with a replay review, the Mets manager has the right to veto or block the opponent's replay review request.
