Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 So they pulled him after five, confirming my suspicion that Rojas believes winning tonight isn't that important.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I don't believe that these decisions are being entirely, or maybe even partially, by Rojas.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I agree. And it'd be very helpful if a beat guy could try and get to the bottom of that process and who is involved.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 All ya gotta do is get JdG out of the game and the runs start to flow.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 That rail on the M&M porch is so stupid and needs to be moved back two feet.Beyond that, it would have been nice to hear the announcers stay with the play, because if that wasn't called a homer, I have no idea if Smith was out or safe at the plate.But... YAY! NEATO!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Tomas Nido, clutch Mets bat of the year thus far
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Boy, Castro, when he's on, makes guys look foolish up there.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Ron is suggesting the break-even point in stealing is 80%. It's usually cited as 75%, but I think it should be treated more like 67%. I think we've overthought that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Mazeika seems to have good bat-to-ball skills.A nice waste pitch swing kept that AB alive. And his K rate in the minors isn't real high, at least considering the era.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 You want to impress me Guillorme, let's see five.

So, for example, a ceiling of maximum innings or innings pitched was probably established collectively by upper management and maybe even Rojas, too. But Rojas would have discretion to lower, though not extend deGrom's ceiling during the game based on his firsthand In-game, real-time observations and discussions with deGrom himself. If this is right, the question then, is whether deGrom hit his max tonight or whether Rojas pulled deGrom before deGrom reached the max.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Yes, I believe there are probably guidelines or limits and that Rojas has some discretion to operate around those pre-arrsnged constraints.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 How long will the director be cutting to Pillar every time a batter has to avoid a pitch?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I've never made this observation publicly, but José Peraza's beard looks like something he glued on to get out of town with the cops watching the airports, train stations, and bus depots.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 The Mets have a Yenssy and the Rox have a Yency.Lee, meanwhile, is clearly Superman, and major league curveballs are his kryptonite.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 The Rox escape by striking out Nido on a pitch out of the strike zone.Diaz pays them back by striking out McMahon on a pitch out of the strike zone.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 I've never been in agreement with the idea that expansion hurts pitching more than hitting.Teams are carrying as many as 15 pitchers. Top starters are being pulled after five or six innings, despite pitching effectively. Lesser starters come out after four or five, despite pitching effectively. Yet scoring is falling precipitously. When is this dilution going to be felt?
