Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 In Minneapolis, the Twins (vs BoSox), the NHL's Wild, and the NBA's Timberwolves all had home games scheduled for tonight. All three have been canceled. In tonight's Yanqui game, Aaron Hicks is going to sit out over the same issue.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2021 Author Posted April 12, 2021 Marlins, playing the Braves, have a replay overturn go against them so Mattingly gets tossed arguing with the umps on the field who agreed with him!He must still think he's on the Ysnquis where all the calls are supposed to automatically go in his favor.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Well, I would think Conforto's elbow should've disabused him of that one.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Same game, tied 3-3 in b9. Marlins sidearmer Cimber on on relief, first pitch hits a guy in the knee, next pitch hits the next guy in the knee. Following Brave whiffs trying to bunt.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Next guy fouls out behind 3rd base on 2-0. Acuna up, pitching change
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Acuna walks. Braves announcer just suggested Albies pull a "Michael Conforto Act." Instead, he grounds out.Braves in Aaron-era, lower-case a throwbacks look great even if they suckMlb.tv = fun
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Author Posted April 13, 2021 As Gary just said, Jed Lowrie has played more games than the Mets this season.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2021 Author Posted April 13, 2021 Braves (vs Marlins) and Nats (StL) have both coughed up 14 tonight. So we pick up 1.5 on each of them, 0.5 on the Fish, and 2 full games on the Phightins (assuming JF can close this one out). And the Yanx got their ass kicked ... so that's like quintuple happiness!
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Who is that doing play-by-play? I feel like somebody wants to drunk-fight me.That's Glenn Kuiper, brother of Giants announcer Duane, and longtime Oakland staple Ray Fosse on the call.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Author Posted April 14, 2021 Peter Edward Rose Sr. turns 80 today.

Is that something that the Social Security Administration provides? Or maybe Medicare?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Author Posted April 14, 2021 Bo Bichette's 2nd HR of the day walks-off the Yanx thus moving the Bombers, however temporarily, into last place in the AL East.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Nice to see Acuña doing his best work against division rivals.Get it out of your system, Ronald.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Carlos Rodon is perfect through 6 for the White Sox tonight for anyone who can and wants to tune in there
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I have every intent of landing me a choice piece like that 32 years down the road. Don't tell Fwife of course.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Rodon ends up with a no-hitter after hitting a batter in the foot with a pitch in the 9th inning
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 No-Hitter of the Week Club, Est. 2021.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Author Posted April 15, 2021 The Braves tried very hard to lose all of their four-gamer vs the Marlins, including by giving up the lead in a 2-run 9th inning this afternoon, but they came with two of their own in the bottomhalf to eke out their lone win in the series.None of the Atlanta regulars are hitting except for Acuna who now has 7 HRs and is hitting near .500And then there's Pablo Sandoval. He's appeared in ten of their 13 games, all as a PH'er: he's 3 for 8 w/2 BBs, all three are HRs, all three have put the Braves ahead in late innings or tied up the game. His third was today w/2 on. He has 7 RBI on three swings.Patrick Corbin continues to take it on the chin for the Nats: 10 Runs (9 earned) thru 2 vs Arizona tonight. That's 15 RA in just over 6 innings/2 starts so far this season
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Have the Braves removed the All-Star Game patches from their uniforms?

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 It's a Triple Play (even if there was poor camera work). Votto could have walked to 3B for an unassisted TP.https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/1383558606092599297https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/1383558606092599297
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Those announcers didn't do a very good job describing the action either. "A miss at home and A TRIPLE PLAY!""Early departure and a permanent arrival!"WHAT???That was Amed Rosario who screwed up there? Maybe he thought it was a ground ball?I keep thinking that we're not going to miss Amed Rosario.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 I'm unclear, and still peeved, as to why WSH has multiple Covid cases and the Mets have to sit around doing nothing for 4 days, get 2 double-headers and an extra trip, and tonight LAA-MIN was canceled b/c MIN has multiple Covid cases BUT Houston loses several players due to Covid and the games proceed.
