Gets high marks. Was part of the Bosox org when it won three WS's and part of the Cubs WS title org. Argued hard for the Red Sox to acquire Justin Turner after the Mets non-tendered him in 2013. Said to be an excellent talent evaluator and knows SABRmetrics..

Took me like 300 keystrokes and 10 minutes on my dumb phone to get this message out. How do people type on these things?

I recommend an app called SwiftKey. It's really good at anticipating what word you're typing and what word or words you might type next, and it gets smarter as it learns your patterns. It's saved me 545,348 taps, has accurately predicted 58,667 words and has completed 109,370 words for me.

Jared goes before the press today. SNY airs the virtual gathering at 4:30 ET.

Peter Gammons https://theathletic.com/2258922/2020/12/14/jared-porter-mets/goes for Jared.

In the last two days, I have gotten more than three dozen texts from baseball people who see Mets president Sandy Alderson and Porter as natural partners. “Knowing Jared all these years, Sandy is the perfect mentor for him,” says one former Red Sox colleague. “Sandy will shelter him from Cohen, who is so energetic and eager to make news,” says another. Adds a third, “Sandy Alderson defines honor, dignity, thought and measured enthusiasm. They are perfect for one another.”

Porter is measured, he is thoughtful, he seems to know every player in either league, and virtually every executive knows him. “Jared is incredibly humble, he's a listener, he connects with everyone, he's someone everyone trusts,” says Cherington. “Sandy can go home at night or travel somewhere and know that Jared can handle a problem that comes up. From veteran scouts like the late Gary Hughes to the young analysts, he makes it clear he appreciates and respects them.”

Q: Tell us, Jared, was this the longest you've ever gone without a Big Mac?

Must be nice to be slender.

Seriously, we're fat shaming people now? I've wrestled with weight most of my adult life even through I exercise and try to eat right. I've gone decades without a Big Mac.

I watched the presser and was more interested in what he had to say that his weight. Seems like a good fit.

Yeah that wasn't nice of me, but I can overvalue cheap laughs at times. Didn't mean to offend anyone here.

The truth is I'd never seen Parker till today and knowing he was a hotshot young exec i just don't expect that in the USA today.

The other thing is the Mets in the Wilpon Era were always about hiring the good face. Look at Brodie.
