Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 I'm going to have to refresh my memory regarding how I do in-season updates to the UMDB. It's been almost ten months!
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Tonight's the night? I better check my fantasy lineup!
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Oh never mindI never know the date anymore 🤦♀️
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Weather forecast looks promising so far. Currently no rain predicted for Friday.

Hmmm.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 They'd better move those cardboard fans
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I can see them moving the cardboard fans after games. But what if it rains during the game? Or are they not cardboard but made of sterner stuff, like vinyl that won't get destroyed even in a thunderstorm? Inquiring minds want to know.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 There will be walkup music and such. Everything but Jane JarvisLooking forward to it!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Mets press release virtually overdoes the word “virtually”. METS TO HOST OPENING DAY - JULY 24 VS. ATLANTA FLUSHING, N.Y., July 23, 2020 – The New York Mets will host Opening Day at Citi Field Friday, July 24, at 4:10 p.m. vs. the Atlanta Braves. While unfortunately Mets fans are not able to attend the game in-person, the organization will carry on with several traditions to welcome in the new season. The annual Shea family floral presentation, a tradition that dates to the first Opening Day at Shea Stadium in 1964, will take place virtually this year. The ceremony was started by Bill Shea who was instrumental in bringing National League baseball back to New York. Members of the Shea family will virtually present Mets manager Luis Rojas with a good luck floral arrangement. A group of essential workers from New York will come together to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” virtually. In the middle of the seventh inning, Lauren Patten, from the hit Broadway Show Jagged Little Pill, will virtually sing “God Bless America.” During the contest, the Mets will virtually salute Veteran of the Game, Staff Sergeant Juliet Taylor. A member of the US Army for 12 years from 2002-2014, Taylor was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. For her service she received three Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, seven Army Good Conduct Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal amongst many other honors. Taylor continues to serve her community by working with several non-profit organizations such as American Veterans, Post 43, Disabled American Veterans, Habitat for Heroes, Female Soldier Forgotten Heroes and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition, a special guest to be named later will throw out the first pitch.Does “virtually sing” means speak rhythmically?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I think they should get a virtual guest to virtually throw out the first pitch. It would be SO virtual!
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I virtually nominate Ben GrimmBut he would virtually have to be Superman to get there in time

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 deGrom is going to get, like, three innings, right?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I guess it depends on his pitch count, but yeah, I'm thinking three to five.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 A pretty good one, too! The optimism Opening Day carries is some kinda witchcraft magick. It's gotta be.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 Will there be a tribute video for Matt Adams?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 I mostly like that lineup. I'm not a supporter of the Alonso-in-the-two-hole thingie.I'd like to see Smith get the start in left against the righthander, especially since he's the hot bat.

Or would they have to IL one of their sick catchers in order to do that?
