Glad to see two excellent semifinalists meet in the finals!

I'm going with JOG, it's just so clever. I know the Snooze fired everyone with talent some time ago but if I were the Post, I'd do what it takes to hire that guy/girl away. And if I were the Snooze I'd build a whole marketing campaign around him/her. NY DAILY NEWS: Join The Best Headline Writer in the Biz!

Totally agree. STREAKERS is obviously the "better" story, but everything about JOG is a better headline, even the look on Cano's face.

Without getting political, if you check the front page of today's Daily News it is still putting out great covers.

The play on Three Dog Night vs the reference to streaking — it's a final 1974 can love!

I realized last night that like a half-dozen times I referred to this as The Polar

Pits cover. I mistakenly did so (it is Conforto, of course) and just kept doing so

like Pavlov's Jawg.

I went with Three Jawg Night, disappointed that my covers died early and often.

I mean, the whole dynamic of replacing "dog" with "jog". It works on so many levels. My one complaint about that cover is the orange 3. Would have been better if the headline had remained consistent.

I think Conforto running into the wall was the cover for 2018 right? It would be cool to see a triumphant Conforto take the prize a year later.

Yes, Conforto was on last year's winning cover, MIDNIGHT BADNESS. He has a chance to be the second back-to-back winner. (Yoenis Cespedes won in 2015 and 2016 with YES-PEDES and CES BOOM BAH)

"Streakers!" is the definitive back page of 2019. It speaks to the moment that redefined the way we are destined to remember this season, as one when the Mets roared back to relevance and had a blast doing so. These were the Mets who never gave up, except their shirts. This back page is the ideal illustration of who they were (not unlike Conforto stumbling backwards into the outfield fence spoke volumes about what 2018 was in last year's winner). Michael is front and center, but notice his teammates in the background, all of them celebrating his feat -- beyond second base, no less. The picture tells a story of a team racing from the dugout and up the standings.

"3 Jog Night" is clever, and certainly works for the day after (which is all you can ask a back page to do the next morning), but I don't see it as speaking to 2019 as a whole, which I think is what the champion of this competition should be expected to do. I also think its would-be hot take is two months late. Cano jogging to first was a May story. This was July. The connection is reasonable, but not so sizzling by then.

Co-winners! You have plenty of wall space there in Stockholm, and Maja could use a double dose of happiness after a couple years of melancholy.

Now, I would never have guessed the two finalists would have neither Jake or Polar Bear. Considering the volume of covers and the strength of their seasons, I thought one of them for sure would be represented.

I like Streakers better, referring to both the shirtless thing and the tremendous run the team was on. (And you know it's only a matter of time before we have official Nike tear-away post-game celebration shirts.) Plus the bottom has the MFYs losing.
