G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Team with winning record strives for more. Wheeler's first home start since not being traded. In honor of such a momentous occasion, not only will I be at Citi Field, but I will be joined by the loveliest diehard in any section, Mrs. Fafif.LFGM, indeed.vN8U-TSbfwE
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2019 Author Posted August 5, 2019 This will be, by far, the latest in a major league season that Zack pitches for a winning team.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Tuesday Night Mets Club will be in 509 only Bernie Sanders can't be there tonight

A big section of the lawn seats were reserved for South Bend city employees, so we were hoping Mayor Pete would make an appearance. Love the West Wing reference!

Crowd should be good; I was surprised how loud and how full the stadium felt for a 4:10 first pitch yesterday. Also you should be happy that my kid and his Mets buddies have run with the SHaMs name.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 Conforto is also resting.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Guillorme, Hechavarria, Lagares, Wheeler... that's a murderer's row right there. Wheels better have it going on tonight.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I know that there's a day game tomorrow but why would you rest Conforto against a righty?

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Great news that McNeil is in the lineup. Unless, by playing, he aggravates a two-day injury into a three-month injury. (That would never happen with the Mets, would it?)
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Author Posted August 6, 2019 What a bench tonight, though.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 No Easy gives up one in the first as Frazier zinglez home Davis.Davis should be named "Mr. Citi Field" at this point, no?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Sorry to see Rojas hurt like that, but he should not be out. The rule stipulates that you're allowed to overrun first, and you're not vulnerable to being tagged out unless you turn toward second, even if you're in fair territory.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 I was in and out of the kitchen making dinner so might have missed it entirely, but I wasn't sure Rojas touched first before his knee failed him. Did he?

Did he?Yeah, the non-touch of 1B appeared to be the ruling. My first reaction was that it shouldn't have been called otherwise although I wasn't 100% sure either way.The 'did he or didn't he?' turn once past 1st was always one of the most mis-interpreted call in weekend softball games. I've seen cases where the batter/runner was called out for merely starting his return to 1st by turning leftward (counter-clockwise) instead of clockwise even while doing so right on the line.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Wheeler turned into a groundball machine tonight! Maybe Guiilorme gives confidence?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 The problem with Guillorme's walk-up music is that this Luis is the furthest thing from being 'whiter than white'.
